All: Lord, You know us to the deepest; we cannot hide.
We make reasonable excuses and deceptions,
pretending that
our sin isn't really sin at all.
Show us where sin is within us and between us.
Send Your
Holy Spirit to cleanse us and change us,
to love you fully and follow You completely,
through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

(Silence for meditation on what you have specifically done which demands repentance. Turn it over to the Lord. This silent time should not be less than half a minute, and is preferably more. At a time of the minister's choosing, the minister shall say:)
P: Most merciful God,
All :
we confess that we have sinned against you
in thought, word, and deed,
by what we have done, and by what we have left undone.
We have not loved you with our whole heart;
we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves.
We are sorry, and now turn away from our sin before you.
For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ,
have mercy on us and forgive us,
that we may joyfully obey your will
and walk in Your ways
to the glory of your Name. Amen.
