William Wilcoxson (b. 1601 Ilkeston, Derbyshire, Eng.; d. before 16 Jun 1652, Stratford CT). Linen weaver. Came to New England w. Margaret and son John on the ship Planter, 1635. To Stratford in 1639, where he had a property in town. Deputy of Stratford to CT legislature, 1647.

His cousin and his brother (both may have been named John) appear to have had sons named William; our first William could almost equally have been one of them. Ultimately, the line probably goes back to Wales or Cornwall.

A William Wilcoxson (presumably related to this line) wrote a history of Stratford CT in 1939.
