About the LIGHTNING...
Ford's SVT (Special Vehicle Team) created the Lightning to compete against the 454SS and really all of todays sports cars. Ford started out with an F150 and transformed it into a truck that is as fast as the Mustang and handles even better.
The trucks powerplant is based on a 351W. then they added a set of hypereutectic pistons and a mild cam to the shortblock. Next they put on a set of GT40 heads and intake to make use of the performance cam. It uses a simular EFI setup as the mustang with 19 # injectors but it uses a different computer and is speed density. They matched up an E4OD trans to the 351. The 4.10 gears in the 8.8 rear are givin plenty of torque through the aluminum drive shaft. Stock HP figures are estimated at about 240 HP but it puts out a realistic 280 HP from the factory! That's alot more than even the stangs are pushing!!
They changed the body abit by adding a front spoiler and color matched body parts. Fog lights in the front. Sport bucket seats w/ Lightning logos.
The stock Lightning is capable of 14 second 1/4 mile passes, but 15.0 - 15.4 is the average time.

1/4 mile performance...
-stock with 14 deg. timing

14.96 @ 90.04

-W/ Borla exhaust ,pulley, reg, MSD, 1.7 rockers and shortbelt,

14.68 @ 93.2 mph

Just got the Vortech S-TRIM brackets and discharge tube chromed! What a difference! Got everything installed, just waiting on the external pump. Did start it with the belt on though just to see how loud the blower was...........
Next up is a mass air setup and 36# injectors, Still undecided on which mass air I want to get$
Dad just got a Black 99 Camaro SS with the LS1 corvette motor and chrome ZR1 looking wheels,so I need to get the blower running to remind who's the BOSS!!
