What I Did For The Second Summer Session 1998

I had the pleasure of working as Pilot on the M/V CLAUDE R - 1600 hp worth of barge pushin' fury. . .

We met up with the M/V MARK K in Lake Charles, Louisiana at Devall Fleet

Shoving the M-839 into Calcasieu Lock in Lake Charles, Louisiana. . . We followed the M/V Miss Rose

Shoving North-bound in the Atchafalya River coming up on Morgan City Railroad Bridge

On the Mississippi, boy were there some huge riverboats. Here's a Midland boat South-bound w/ 35 barges

Here is the M/V Paul Candies pulling the MODU Rowan Gorilla V off of the bank at Vicksburg, Mississippi

The MODU Rowan Gorilla V begins its life in the water as it gracefully slides off of the bank

While the M/V Paul Candies holds the MODU Rowan Gorilla V into the current, 4 riverboats make-up to the stern of the rig

The tow we pushed from Vicksburg, Mississippi to Sabine Pass, Texas

Here the boat is East-bound Intracoastal Waterway coming up on Bayou Petite' Anse (Petty Anne for you Texas folk)

Here the M/V CLAUDE R is shoving into Leland Bowman Lock in Intracoastal City, Louisiana

After a mere 4 weeks in the water, the MODU Rowan Gorilla V jacks up full of ballast to set their legs in the mud

The sun sets over my seven weeks on the M/V CLAUDE R. . .it was truely an adventure.

No trip to Sabine Pass would be complete without a nice stringer of fish. . . the crew of the M/V CLAUDE R

was very understanding of the need to cut the Grocery Budget, so they set out to pitch in and provide some meals.

Time to get off of the boat. . . Chip lit up a Portofino (cigar) and savored his last moments aboard the M/V CLAUDE R
