This site gives you information on our luxury apartment overlooking the shores of the Mediterranean, the Rock of Gibraltar, the Guadiaro estuary and the Moroccan Mountains. There are photographs of the apartment, views from the terrace and information about local places to visit activities and special interests. Sotogrande can be reached easily from Gibraltar Airport in 20 minutes and with the new motorway from Malaga Airport in 1hour and 20minutes.

Situated in the upmarket and picturesque resort of Sotogrande, the apartment is located in a quiet and beautiful tree lined avenue bordering the seafront and river estuary. There is ample off road parking in addition to an underground garage. The apartment is on the second and top floor and can be reached either by stairs or a lift. Inside the apartment you will find a large and spacious lounge diner (see below) and drawing back the curtains you will be breath-taken at the panoramic view and fantastic scenery. Bird watchers may immediately be drawn to the flocks of Greater Flamingos that frequent the estuary, or the Kingfishers, Marsh Harriers, Egrets, Herons and Waders that are normally present.

The apartment has a well-equipped kitchen (see below) and utility room, including a dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. The is a remote control TV with Satellite channels (including Disney for Children!) There are two double bedrooms, two bathrooms and both air-conditioning and central heating for the winter.

The apartment is situated next door to the Sotograde Playa Beach Club with two excellent swimming pools- viewable from the apartment (see below) and with a friendly bar and superb restaurant.

There is a mini- supermarket, newsagent and beach shop 75 yards away. A short drive/ bike ride or 1 mile walk will bring you to Puerto Sotogrande. Here you can find an array of excellent restaurants including Italian, French, Mexican, Chinese and of course Spanish. Many overlook the marina with the stunning Yachts and local fishing boats. There is a well-stocked supermarket and various other shops including bookstores, art and antiques. For those that prefer the big hypermarket you can travel to La Continente -25 minutes North to Estepona or 20 minutes South towards Algerciras.

 Activity Lovers -

The apartment is next to the Sea for Sea-fishing, Surfing, Swimming, Diving and Sea Kayaking. There are Tennis courts 100 yards away for residents use. The two swimming pools next door (entry charge in July and August), Bicycles for hire and lots of excellent routes in and around Sotogrande, Canoeing on the River, Coarse Fishing, Golf (see below), Walking and exploring the wild and rugged Jimena hills and valleys nearby and not to mention Birding (see below).

Birders -

The apartment overlooks one of the few remaining wetlands on the Costa del Sol and its proximity to Gibraltar and North Africa put it squarely in the major migration path for an amazing range of species. The terrace overlooks a diversity of habitats including sea, estuary, sand spits, fresh water and brackish marsh, reed- beds, woods and distant mountains - including Gibraltar and on a clear day Morocco. Apart from a number of rarities including Royal and Lesser Crested Tern, species of interest include: Squacco Heron, Purple Heron, Night Heron, Little Bittern, Greater Flamingo, Garganey, Osprey, Black Kite, Booted Eagle, Marsh, Hen and Montagu's Harrier, Spotted Crake, Collared Pratincole & Waders, Pom Skua, Audoin's Gull ( regular on sand spit ), Gull-billed, Caspian, Whiskered and Black Terns, Scops Owl,Red- necked Nightjar, Bee- Eater, Hoopoe, Short-toed Lark, Red- rumped Swallow, Tawny Pipit, Woodchat Shrike, Black- eared Wheatear, Rufous Bushchat, Orphean Warbler, Great Reed Warbler, Bluethroat, Penduline Tit, Ortolan Bunting.

There are a remarkable number of excellent sites within a short drive including the Straights of Gibraltar for major Raptor and Stork migration, La Janda for Bustards and wintering Storks, Cranes and Raptors..including the occaisional Spanish Imperial Eagle, the Ojen Valley for Eagles, Kites, Vultures and a fantastic selection of passerines. Not to mention the famous Coto Donana which is approx. 2 .5 Hours drive.

 Golfers -

Golf enthusiasts will be spoilt for choice with four Golf courses within the Sotogrande development alone... including Spain's top Valderrama Course. There is the beautiful Real Club De Sotogrande by the sea, a more modest 9 Hole course at La Canada and a brand new course at Almenara.

Apart from the more obvious resorts of Estepona, Marbella and Puerto Banus, there are many excellent places to visit in this corner of Spain. Spend a day shopping tax free in Gibraltar, climb to the top of the rock and see the Barbary Apes. Go on the regular Dolphin trips from the Rock.. You can visit Tarifa, Spain's windsurfing capital, go horse riding, or explore the cities of Cadiz, Jerez or Sevilla. On Sunday it is worth visiting the tiny and remote town of Castella de la Frontera high up in the mountains. You can even visit Morocco for a day.

 Those looking to just relax...

What can be more relaxing than sunbathing by the pool next door, reading a book with a cold drink from the bar, or spending lunch or dinner on the terrace with a bottle of wine!

The apartment is available to rent for one or two week periods. Prices are from £175 per week (low season), £275 per week (mid season) and £375 per week (peak periods) for the whole apartment on a self- catering basis.
