Fun in the Sun
Sports & Stuff: One advantage of living in LA is perfect weather and living real close to the beach. I mean, where else could I hope to play volleyball, cycle along the ocean, body surf, and rollerblade pretty much all year long? Here's a list of some things I enjoy and good places to do them.
Skiing at Mammoth: The eternal LA summer is a delight to have, but when winter comes I'm drawn to the hills to experience the cold, the snow, and the speed. This North Carolina boy never expected to be bitten by the ski bug in sunny So Cal like he has!

Babylon 5: As anyone who knows me well could tell you, my true SF passion these days is the coolest SF series to ever hit the air. You can check out its official site, or do what everyone else does and peruse the Lurker's Guide
Babylon 5 Wars: I also have a page devoted to the Babylon 5 Wars starship combat game. It contains a rules variant to better simulate inertial combat as seen on the show, plus a few game aids and links to other sites.
Everything Else: OK, this deserves more than a quick paragraph, but that will come later. Here's my short list of what's hot. TV: Deep Space 9 has been improving, and Voyager still sucks (and Paramount's attitudes towards fans is reprehensible); X-Files is cool when it's not a monster show; Xena is a goddess and Buffy is cool; check out the repeats of VR.5 on Sci Fi Channel; watch Reboot as it's not just for kids. Authors I'm particularly fond of, many of whom are local, include Dave Brin, Greg Bear, Sheila Finch, Emma Bull, Dan Simmons, and many others who escape me at present.
