Mary Leakey found the footprints of an adult and child preserved in volcanic ash. (This is the earliest evidence for bipedalism.)

They walked northward across the ash fall from a nearby volcano, the child walking in the footsteps of the adult. Small antelope passed by, and a brief rainstorm fell across the landscape before further eruptions buried the footprints.
