Though electronic bulletin boards are not part of the internet, many now have internet access with Telnet. A big advantage is no long distance phone calls.
Telnet is also used to access to many public and school libraries. If you want to try one out, try Moraine Park Technical College's WISPALS on-line catalog and ERIC periodical index. The Telnet address is 198.150.96.30
