This site is Specifically designed for all people involved in the operations of water and wastewater treatment plants!

This web site is also the homepage for a Water/wastewater Internet Applications class given at selected technical colleges in Wisconsin. Each session has an accompanying lecture and power point presentation. For more information on classes e-mail me at: ronwater1@aol.com

What makes the world wide web so special are the hypertext links that "web" sites together. Today, the web is not only hypertext, but hypermedia as music, movies, and sounds are only a click away. Below are only a few examples:

Music (23kb .mid file)        Joke (355kb .avi file)         "bigdump" (120kb .wav file)

*Blue star notes sites with lots of information

Session 1 The Internet

Session 2 Using Internet Protocols to Exchange Information and Troubleshoot Problems.

Mailing list home pages
Mailing lists enable you to participate in discussions with other professionals via e-mail. To join a mailing list, you send e-mail (with special commands) to the list server. The server then automatically distributes list members submissions' to all other list members. Web discussion groups for many operational problems.
This is one of my favorite. You don't need to subscribe to anything. You just go to the web site and browse the submissions for subjects you find interesting. One of the best is from the Water Environment Federation. Newsgroups
With mail lists, you subscribe to a list and e-mail is sent to you. With newsgroups, you also subscribe to a group, but nothing is sent to you. You go to the information.
You can also use Deja News for searching topics in newsgroups.

Environmental Bulletin Boards / Telnet
Though electronic bulletin boards are not part of the internet, many now have internet access with Telnet. A big advantage is no long distance phone calls.
Telnet is also used to access to many public and school libraries. If you want to try one out, try Moraine Park Technical College's WISPALS on-line catalog and ERIC periodical index. The Telnet address is 198.150.96.30

The telnet sites are dopping out as web based sites are becoming popular. There is only one site that I know of that's left!!!
