The Major Pieces

Console (keyboard and motherboard)

Peripheral Expansion Box
(Plugs into side port on console
provides power for various expansion cards)

Monitor or Modulator/TV
(with monitor, use an audio/video cable
with TV, use a modulator supplied with console)

Joysticks
(TI type originally called wired remote controllers)

Disk Drive System
(Original TI type with SS/SD 5 1/4 inch drive
system included Disk controller for 3 drives)

32K Memory Card
(Plug-in to Peripheral Expansion Box)

TI Speech Synthesizer
(Plug-in to side of console)

RS-232 Interface Card
(Included a parallel port output suitable
for driving printers, plus two RS232 ports)

    The above listed items might be said to constitute a "core" system.  The majority of current TI-99/4A Users have systems made up of AT LEAST those items.  To those items, many have added other bits and pieces, and these were NOT built by Texas Instruments.
