Health Insurance Protection Legislation 2004 Update And Status

As reported in the March and April newsletters, as a result of the objections of certain active police and fire unions, to retired police and fire retirees being included in health insurance protection legislation, Legislators in 2003 and now again in 2004, drafted health insurance protection legislation for civilian public retirees only, thereby excluding police and fire retirees from this protection (S4986 in 2003, S6150 in 2004).  A complete up to date on the bills can be found in the latest issue of the RPA newsletter.

There has been no response from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey as to re-imbursement for Medicare payments for retired members of the PAPD.  We are still awaiting a response from the PA from our last request that members of the PAPD receive re-imbursement payments.
