Portrait thought to be of Ann Hill Carter Lee, painter unknown. She is identified by the George Washington miniature now at Washington and Lee University and known to have been hers. The miniature attached to her dress may have been Washington's wedding gift to her.
Robert E. Lee, her youngest son, was named for her two favorite brothers.
