About That Logo...

About that Logo...
The 'sh-h-h' logo was created at the inception of Quiet Please,
Recording, in 1992. The company was formed to record, produce, edit and release to the public high-quality
digital recordings; the idea was to convey the quality of digital recording simply with an icon. After we considered numerous possible designs, the psuedo-street
sign (made to resemble a 'No Parking' sign) was chosen. This was before
any commitment to railroad sound recordings; now the name seems rather quaint,
considering how loud some of our train CDs are!

"Close Your Eyes...and You're There!!"
When we first seriously considered producing a CD ("Riding
In An Open Vestibule"), we were playing DATs (digital audio tapes)
at my brother Giles Reaves'
house. We were listening to what turned out to be the first track, "On
the Banks of the Little Juniata" with Tony
Gerber (who became QPR's graphic artist). Tony was mesmerized by the
'depth' of the recording, with the birds and river sounds, and when the
Conrail train entered the scene, he casually remarked, "Man, if you
close your eyes, it's like you're really there!" So, in addition to
creating some of the slickest CD designs around (and music, too!), Tony
can take credit for coming up with the QPR slogan:
"Close Your Eyes...and You're There!!"
