When the threat of severe weather is imminent or upon the National Weather Service issuance of a Severe Thunderstorm Warning, Tornado Warning, or whenever spotter activation is requested, RSSW will activate Severe Weather Net operations consisting of a Net Control Station, MTEARS Liaison, and available Storm spotters. The Net Control Station will call a controlled and directed net. All reportable emergency traffic gathered during the severe weather operation will be forwarded to the NWS via the MTEARS Link System. Only the designated MTEARS Liaison will pass emergency traffic to the MTEARS system. Our NET operations will continue for the purpose of ARES operations when needed.
Our mission and vision To provide the NWS reliable visual weather reports when severe weather strikes Robertson and Sumner Counties. To provide properly trained, equipped and reliable amateur radio operators for storm spotting, emergency/disaster communications or wherever the needs may be within the scope of general public assistance to help protect life and property.
