Panel

Not a lot of room in the panel, so I decided
to try the Stratomaster which allowed , me to
place my eyeball air vents in the panel. My plan
was, not to mount anything under the panel.
I wanted all the leg room possible in this small
cabin. I really feels good, not having anything
to bump your knees on.

Finished panel

Trying to fit it all in the panel is a
challenge, but it can be done.

One of the hardest things to figure out
on the panel was how to do the labeling. I
was trying to find a better way than stick on
labels. My first idea was to have a graphics
company print out the entire panel on vinyl,
which I had layed out on my computer. This
would have been a good way to go, they can
even laminate a clear layer over the print for
durability. But I had already cut my holes in
the panel, and it was really close tolerances
around the switches. I was afraid that the
print might not match up with the holes.
It would have worked great if I would
have had the print done, then cut my holes
in the panel to match the print.
So here's what I did. I painted the panel
flat black, then found and engraving company
that used a laser to cut the lettering through
the black and leave just bare metal. This left
silver letters on a black background. Then
I sprayed a coat of clear on it for durability.
This made a nice looking panel, but I'd
still like to try one of the vinyl ones on a
plane someday.

Lots of holes to cut and wiring to do but
it's really not that hard
