The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) helps people age 55 and older find service opportunities in their home communities. RSVP participants serve from a few to over forty hours a week in organizations that range from hospitals and youth recreation centers to local police stations and education facilities. RSVP involves seniors in service that matches their personal interests and makes use of their skills and lifelong experiences. RSVP volunteers receive insurance coverage, mileage reimbursement, and community recognition. The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of Spokane County is sponsored by the YMCA of the Inland Northwest.

RSVP offers many volunteer opportunities for people 55 and older. Here are some current volunteer opportunities.

RSVP also has ongoing programs in which to get involved.

  • Project Warm-Up: Help keep children warm through the cold seasons through knitting.
  • RSVP Reading Corps: Many opportunities to particpate in; from tutoring children one on one to helping English as a Second Language students learn English.
  • Bulk Mail: RSVP's ongoing fundraiser. Volunteers prepair bulk mailings providing a service to many community agencies.
  • House Greening: Help dispose of hazardous waste and materials from seniors homes. This annual prgram which occurs on the Saturday of Earth Week, will soon become an ongoing program helping many of Spokane area's communities.
