Welcome to the
Regional Synods play a vital role in the physical and spiritual health of congregations of the Reformed Church in America. They have also counseled and assisted almost every new RCA congregation that has come into existence in the past half century. The Synod of New York is the most diverse of all the RCA's seven regional synods. It is made up of rural, suburban, and city churches. While it is concentrated around New York City, Long Island, and the lower Hudson Valley, it also includes worshiping communities in Pike County, Pennsylvania; High Point, New Jersey; Boston, Massachusetts; Cary, North Carolina; and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Every Sunday, the Synod worships in nine different languages; congregations representing races and cultures from around the world are found in substantial numbers within our fellowship. Currently, the Synod enjoys the participation of 24 Asian churches, 13 African-American churches, and four Hispanic churches. Many of our congregations are multi-cultural and multi-racial.
New York Synod is called by God to be a support and help to the churches and the classes within its jurisdiction. Our function is to provide pastoral support to struggling churches, to help start new churches, and to represent the great diversity of its members to the larger Reformed Church in America.
The Regional Synod of New York is an exciting place to be part of God's Kingdom. We learn and share much with each other. Here, God's great love of difference is celebrated. Here also, our diversity is drawn together into one fellowship created by the Spirit of Jesus Christ, who is our common Lord and Savior.
