Welcome to My World of Walkers
This is webpage is devoted to a Walker family that was resident in Hawkins County, Tennessee in the early 1800s. More precisely, the family of one John WALKER whose will was written in 1818. Named in that Will were his wife, Elizabeth and children Joshua, John, Walter, Edward, Elizabeth, Jane Epperson, James, Cinthia, Sarah, Francis, and Andrew. Through the Revolutionary War Pension papers of Joshua Walker we can trace this family back to Loudoun (Fairfax) County, VA in 1757.
Initially, the genealogy shown on this webpage will be confined to the family of my gg-grandfather John WALKER, born 1788/90, son of John WALKER, born 1770/75, son of John Walker, born circa 1735. Information on other members of the family will be added as received and approval to publish is obtained.
Prior
to the advent of DNA testing, for genealogical purposes, I developed a document
entitled “ Identifying the Family Unit”. It is a collection
of actual, and circumstantial, evidence used to tie the family of John WALKER,
born 1770/75, together. It is now inclusive of the family of Walter WALKER.
DNA
testing, viewable at the Walker Surname DNA Project site (scroll down to Group
18), link several of us back to this John WALKER, born circa 1735.
