Frequently Asked Questions
1) Why do you update every Wednesday?
There are a number of reasons why I update every Wednesday. The main reason is so that I can keep you informed in the world of Dragon Ball Z. The Lycos 50 is also updated at Lycos on Wednesday, so I have that to post. Setting a schedule gives lets you know when to visit.
 2) When will FUNimation's Season 5 air (Great Saiya Man, Buu Sagas)?
Season 5 is currently being sold on tape and DVD. The season will air September 3 and will be about 50 episodes, not enough to conclude the series. Check out my Tapes section to see episode summaries of season 5.
3) Why doesn't DBZ get more media attention?
You have to understand that DBZ is a purely original show. Original can mean different, and different means that the media may be afraid of it. The show is very violent, something the media doesn't want to give attention to. They have to understand that it is really not directed towards toward children. If the media understands those simple concepts, then they shouldn't be afraid to talk about it.
4) When does DBZ air?
Dragon Ball Z airs weekdays on Cartoon Network at 6-7 PM EST, and at midnight on weeknights. All the episodes on air now are from season 4!
5) When do the newest tapes and DVDs come out and where can I buy them?
My Tapes section covers the release dates of the newest tapes. New episodes are out on tape, but Cartoon Network catches up with new episodes during the new season. DVD episodes come out after VHS because the DVD episodes are dubbed in English or subtitled in the original Japanese form! Tapes and DVDs can be found in almost every video, toy, or video game store.
6) Where can I get sub-titled DBZ episodes/movies?
China Town in New York City. Many stores in China Town sell DBZ stuff. I get my sub-titled tapes from Fargo Animation Inc. in China Town. It's on Elizabeth Street off of Canal Avenue. FUNimation is also now selling sub titled DVDs.
7) When are new action figures coming out?
New action figures are out now! There are characters in 5" action figures such as Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Android 17 and 18. Here are pics of the new DBZ action figures(series 17)!
8) What's this thing about a card game?

9) Why is DBZ on Cartoon Network?
Cable is more lenient in the area of censorship. We (FUNimation) believe we can avoid most of the censorship pressure in the future episodes of Dragon Ball Z by going to cable.
10) Why is DBZ censored?
Believe it or not but we (FUNimation) hate censoring the show as much as you hate seeing it censored. The level of censorship is determined by the broadcaster, not FUNimation. The first 53 episodes were created under the censorship authority of Saban. Each episode had to be blessed by an independent censorship authority before it could be aired. These episodes were also created for "free TV" which requires stricter FCC censorship guidelines than cable. We at FUNimation agree that many of the censorship issues have been pretty ridiculous and that the series should remain as pure to the original form as possible. This has been a constant battle for us since we feel most of Dragon Ball Z is perfectly suitable for all ages and teaches great moral traits such as honesty, friendship, good vs. evil, etc..
11) What's the deal with DBZ video games?
A new video game for PS2, and other console systems is being developed right now! A Quake III Modulator is also in the works. Check out bidforpower.com to find out all about the mod. Infogrames is currently making a game called "The Legacy of Goku" for the Game Boy Advance.
12) When are you going to update the Cell VS Gohan fight or your Fights section?
I don't have the last tape of the Cell VS Gohan fight and besides, it's going to air very soon on Cartoon Network. Reading what happens spoils the fun of watching it on television. Typing up the fights take hours and a lot of effort, but when I have nothing to do I'll get to work on it.
13) How did you make a webpage and get sound into it?
I use AOL HotDog express to build my web pages. I downloaded the program days before I opened my site. HotDog express is an AOL based program which helps you upload files to your FTP space. You don't need to know any HTML, it adds pics and sounds for you. The program is no longer available for AOL, but you can check out their site to download free versions: Sausage Software.
14) Who are you?
I've gotten numerous emails from people believing that I am the voice actor for Goku or even the character Goku himself, I don't believe that's possible. I am not Sean Schemmel or Goku, but I am the manager of this web site. If you're interested, here's a short bio of me!
15) What's the deal with the Dragonball series?
Dragonball will air at 5:30 EST starting July 23. Season 1 will be 28 episodes and Cartoon Network will air more if the first season gets good ratings. The voice actress of Goku will be Stephanie Nadolny, the voice of child Gohan from Z. FUNimation is going to keep the original Japanese music which means that the intro may be the same as well!
