EXECUTIVE OFFICERS
OVERVIEWGuy G. Caron, President/CEO
STRUCTUREOur intention has been to resurrect the proud history of Northeast Airlines (11-19-40 to 8/1/72) by establishing a VA like no other - a complete commitment to total historial accuracy.Initially, our fleet and system timetable was based on Northeast's as that airline actually exisited on January 1, 1960, and we began with their route system flown by a fleet of nine Douglas DC-3s, ten Vickers Viscount 798Ds and ten Douglas DC-6Bs .
PREMISE
- Regular system timetables, with flight number, destination, departure time, # of stops, and type of equipment (aircraft), all based on actual Northeast timetables, are used;
- Profit & Loss statements, facilitating the "hiring" of pilots, "purchases" of aircraft , and general system expansion help guide our growth, as "profits" permit;
- A pilot seniority system, based on date-of-"hire" is used for equipment and schedule bids;
- A "Pilot Bid Sheet", from Dad's actual Northeast days, is used whereby pilots bid to fly their preferred aircraft types and monthly flight schedules, based on pilot seniority;
- Semi-annual Proficiency Checks are required for all pilots to remain qualified in a particular aircraft;
- An "aircraft schedule", whereby each aircraft, by ship number, is monitored from one location to another, tracking overnights, flight numbers assignments and maintenance overhauls is used.
PILOT REQUIREMENTSWe realized that in order to meet Northeast's full 1972 "Yellowbird" schedule, we would have needed a great number of pilots immediately.Rather than launch NEAVA with a full fleet of aircraft and schedules, Dad & I "funded" NEAVA with enough "cash" to "purchase" Northeast's actual fleet as it exisited on January 1, 1960 (9 Douglas DC-3s, 10 Vickers Viscount 798Ds and 10 Douglas DC-6Bs ). Each individual aircraft, complete with ship and registration numbers, has been created for this purpose. These aircraft require BAO's Flight Shop. If you are using FS6 for Windows 95 or FS98, you will also need Microsoft's Converters .
Dad had also established a "revenue per flight" breakdown so that we know what Northeast is "earning" from day to day. He had also set up a "pay" schedule for pilots based on the weight and speed of an aircraft (as it actually is), to keep track how many pilots we can afford to "hire", or aircraft we can "purchase" (just as Northeast did during its growth, with CV-880s, DC-9s, B-727s etc.), using them to expand the airline and eventually extend our route and hub system to such areas as Florida, Bermuda, Chicago, etc., as Northeast did.
We feel that such a structure adheres to our goal of historical accuracy, makes operations more realistic and enjoyable for everyone involved, and helps preserve Northeast's history as it relates to their growth, as our own growth will closely parallel Northeast's from 1960 until the Delta takeover in 1972.
Once our virtual airline has grown to the point that Northeast was at in 1972 when it was taken over by Delta, we will continue growing as profits permit with purchases of newer, more modern aircraft (B-737s, MD-90s, B-757/767s, MD-11s, etc.) and continued route system expansion. Eventually, we hope NORTHEAST Airlines VA will become the largest and best VA in the world.
JOIN NORTHEAST!Pilots are required to submit applications, then are "hired" and trained based on Northeast's "financial" ability to do so. Upon "hiring", a pilot is assigned a seniority number based on his or her date-of-"hire" with Northeast, and assigned to a pilot base;Pilots receive Bid Sheets every month from which they bid to fly their desired schedule for the following month. Schedules are awarded based on seniority;
Pilots are "paid" on a hourly rate (gate to gate), based on a formula which uses the weight and speed of the aircraft they are flying, time of day, etc.;
Pilots are afforded the opportunity to upgrade their aircraft qualifications as newer, more modern aircraft are "purchased", or as schedules become available, again based on seniority.
LINKSWhat will your seniority number be ?Applications for new pilots are now being accepted by e-mail. Please type "PILOT APPLICATION" in the subject field of your e-mail. Indicate your proficiency with the aircraft you are applying for, and whether you feel you are instrument qualified or not. Northeast VA will operate pilot bases throughout our route system.
With your help, we hope to become the best and most innovative VA anywhere. Should any of you have any comments, suggestions or contributions of any kind to make, please forward them, as your input is invaluable to making NORTHEAST the best VA anywhere..
