The latest restoration to come out of my shop, here's a 1959 Cushman Roadking ready for some serious cruising! Powered by a 3" +.060 8HP Husky engine and ultra smoooooooth Hurst T-handle controlled two-speed transmission, "Eddie" likes to roll down to the Sonic drive-in to the tune of Santana's "Lowrider" theme music. Harley "fishtail" mufflers are fed through a custom handmade exhaust system. A fabricated centerstand was necessary to clear the exhaust manifolds, and holds the scooter up in a "let's GO!" position. Chrome abounds, whitewalls were a "must" and all the Cushman logos are gold-tinted. As the scooter passes you, the last sight you see is the '59 Cadillac taillight and bezel assembly. Talk about classic late 50's styling!

A recent acquisition, this 1958 Vespa Grand Sport VS4 is one rare scoot! It is believed to be one of less than six in the United States. It could very possibly be the only one to come with a factory sidecar! The top model of it's time, it sports the old style hubs and a square speedometer. According to Scootering Magazine (July 1995) "...the GS is without doubt the most handsome Vespa ever built." I tend to agree!

Here is my first scooter, a 1959 Sears Allstate (mfg. by Cushman). The scooter's name is "Eucephalus", named after the faithful steed of Baron Von Munchausen. Powered by a 5HP Husky motor, single speed, can maintain 40MPH (fast for a highlander, I'm told). A rough ride (no rear suspension and a leading-link front end) but lots of fun and classic late 1950's styling!

Here's the "Green Hornet", a 1981 Vespa P200E that provides me with "around town or cross country" transportation! A strong runner, nimble and quick! Features include chrome cowls and cowl protectors, chrome front fender with "Leaping Jaguar" ornament, chrome horn trim, chrome headset, chrome fan shroud, rear rack with matching box, 7 headlights, 16 mirrors, chrome crash bar, Bitubo front and rear gas shocks. Michelin S-1's mounted on chrome rims do the corners just fine, thank you! Custom seat with retractable backrest/passenger seat. This scooter redefines the term "Looker"! And best of all, it's as much fun to ride as it is to see! "Life is Good"!

"Snoopy" is a 1961 Standard Eagle powered by a 2 7/8 motor bored out to 3.10. Two speed transmission. Top speed about 48 MPH. Named by Lynn Burks (who also provided me my nickname of "Buffer") who allowed as how I spent a lot of time buffing (and wire-wheeling) parts on it. He proclaimed it a "Buffed Eagle", which was shortened to "Beagle" - that naturally led to being named after the world's most famous beagle; "Snoopy". Modifications include retrofitting older style seat springs to improve the ride and custom upholstery from Ross & Barbara Murphey of Longview, Texas. Additional recent modifications (not pictured) are the addition of chrome dual exhaust pipes, seat rail, headlight visor and custom tag holder. Many thanks to Rich Suski, Lynn Burks and Garner's Classic Scooters for their assistance!!!
