Ceremonial Functions of a Mounted Unit


Prerequisites

The student who signs up for this course is a member in good standing of a law enforcement mounted patrol unit and is qualified as a full-time peace officer, reserve level officer or from a support organization (for example – posse group). These same must also be affiliated or assigned to full-time or collateral mounted patrol status. Each requesting student / rider must be in good physical shape / health and has completed their basic equestrian (horsemanship) training at their own individual agencies, through a recognized mounted officer training course or have been pretested and recommended by the O.I.C. / trainer of the sending / hosting agency. Mounts must meet their unit’s requirements and be in good health with current vaccinations. This course is recommended for an experienced rider and horse.

This sixteen-hour (two day) California P.O.S.T. certified mounted training course is designed to support a maximum of twenty students and their mounts (minimum of ten).
