Introducing Stan Buscovich

Stan Buscovich is an on-call consultant as well as an instructor who specializes in educating law enforcement mounted patrol officers in the history, protocol, and precise skills necessary to perform ceremonial functions required of a mounted unit.

He has been instructing his California P.O.S.T certified Plan IV course entitled "Ceremonial Functions of a Mounted Unit" for the last five years throughout North America. Stan is a 28-year veteran with the San Francisco Police Department, where for the last 14 years he has been assigned to the Mounted Unit / unit training officer. He has represented the City and County of San Francisco, the Police Department and the Mounted Unit in over 1,000 events, formal functions and tactical assignments.

Stan's Background Includes:

Certification at 17 different mounted patrol courses throughout North America, including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Academy in Ottawa, Canada.

Lead instructor for the P.O.S.T. Annual Advanced Mounted Patrol Training Course in Sacramento, California, the California Mounted Officer's Association (CMOA) statewide training and the National Park Service Mounted Patrol
Training Course - Yosemite, California.

Four times Grand National Rodeo Champion (Professional Color Guard Competition) Cow Palace, San Francisco, California.

Winner - 12th Annual International Police Equestrian Competition (Uniform Class - formal officer, tack and horse) Montgomery County, Maryland.

The 1995 California Mounted Officer's Association Officer of the Year Award.

Mounted law enforcement Olympic security / ceremonial assignment for the Games of the XXVI Olympiad, Atlanta, Georgia.

Graduate of the P.O.S.T. Master Instructor Development Program (1996 - 1997).
