SCCA Photos from the Rock!

Hi! I'm Bill Hall, from Wilmington, NC!

In the past ten years, I've shot many forms of motorsports, including Winston Cup racing, SCCA, NHRA Drag Racing, IMSA, and Busch GN. This page is primarily devoted to SCCA racing and the people involved in it. I'll be putting some of my images on the page from time to time.

The images on this edition of the page are from Rockingham, in 1996. I hate to admit it, but i've been kind of lax in getting to the events this year. But hopefully, I'll get a few more shot this year, and get the images on my webpage somewhat (boy, that's an open ended promise!) soon after the events that i shoot.

I went to a national race at Savannah in July. I really liked the track there, and met a lot of nice people from the Buccaneer and Atlanta regions. The Atlanta region has a super website! Just click on atlanta region scca website and check it out!

You get a fantastic monthly magazine, Sportscar, that covers the goings on in SCCA, has schedules, cars for sale, all that stuff. Spec Racer

This spec racer was driven at this event by Ken Cowin. If i recall correctly, he was from the Atlanta area, and came across as a pretty nice guy. Also, if memory doesn't fail me, he won the class at this event.

E production roadster

This was a snappy looking Datsun roadster. I was especially impressed by the eye catching colors.

Formula Continental

A couple of FC's showed up at this regional last year. They were really sharp looking, consequently, they make great photos!

Club Ford/Formula Ford

Since I hadn't been around SCCA racing for quite a while, when i went back last year, i was quite interested in the Club Ford class. Older formula Fords, still good enough to race, are being raced at the club level. It's nice to see them.

Formula Vee

Formula race cars, with an air cooled VW engine, steering gear, and other VW parts, in a formula style race car. I'd truly love to have one of these.

Sports 2000

Even a really snazzy sports 2000 car showed up at the regional. You never know what will show up.

Improved Touring (IT)

This is truly an everyman's race car. Usually showroom stock cars that are no longer allowed to compete in the SS ranks, are still raced at the club level. They are one of the most economical race vehicles going today. Consequently, the fields in the IT classes tend to be fairly large.
