Schipperke Rescue
Some Happy Rescue Stories:
Pat, a Schip rescuer, and her husband have never had what you would call a "house dog" in their lives. They are long time Miniature Pinscher breeders and exhibitors. Years ago, 13 to be exact, they bought a Schip bitch from Beverly Henry, made her a champion and produced quite a few champions out of her. They still have her.
About 4 years ago Beverly got a Schip bitch in rescue that was in horrible shape and kept blowing big snot balls from her nose. They just knew she was unadoptable. Their vet concluded that it was a sinus problem, but nothing he treated it with worked. Pat and Cecil fell in love with her and she is the first house dog they have had in over 30 years of marriage!!! Snot and all. They take her everywhere in their 36' diesel motorhome. They just wipe her nose all the time! :Þ
Another rescue went to a 9 year old boy who had witnessed his mother's murder Shortly after that, his dog died and he felt so alone. The club donated the dog to him and it has made a world of difference in his life. He finally feels loved again.
Another one is being used as a therapy dog in nursing homes. Therapy dogs spend time with those who aren't able to have a dog of their own. Many times, a simple lick and wag of the tail means the world to an elderly or ill person.
A male Beverly adopted out last year to a couple in Katy, Texas now lives in Argentina! They were transferred in November and took him with them. They love him to death. He had been treated for heartworm when he was brought in to rescue. Now, he is healthy and happy with his new family.
