How to Acquire a Boxers von Bachbett Puppy or Dog
On our website, you have been able to view information about our dogs, including photos and pedigrees, and any information on litters that have been or will be bred. Now you'd like to know how you can go about acquiring one of our puppies, or an adult dog.
Links to a Puppy / Dog Buyer Profile questionairre, a copy of our Buyer Agreement, and a copy of our Puppy Health Guarantee can be found at the bottom of this page. They will outline what we expect of our buyers, and what our buyers can expect from us. The Profile will help us understand your needs better, and will guide us in choosing the perfect puppy or dog. We also require that all prospective buyers either visit with us in person, or conduct an in depth telephone interview with us to determine whether we feel one of our dogs is appropriate for you.
As you can see, we are lovers of working Boxers! Are you a working Boxer enthusiast, too? Then join us in supporting the United States Boxer Association (USA-BOX), the working Boxer organization here in America. We so strongly believe in this organization, that we now require all puppy buyers to be members of USA-BOX. Check out their home page at United States Boxer Association. Join others who want to keep the Boxer the breed it is meant to be.
Puppies from our litters are generally in the $2000-$3000 range. We always have a waiting list for our litters; the only way to "officially" be placed on this list is to send us a deposit.
If you would like to reserve a puppy from an upcoming litter, you will need to fill out the Buyer Profile, and send it, along with a $500 deposit to George and Cathy Markos. This is a non-refundable deposit, unless a puppy is not actually available within 18 months of receiving your deposit. After 18 months, you may choose to stay on the list or to have your deposit refunded.
We will use your completed Profile to choose the right puppy or dog for you from one of our litters. (We cannot guarantee color, however). We will contact you upon receipt of your deposit, and again following the birth of the litter. If a suitable puppy is not available from the litter, you will be given the opportunity to get a puppy from a future litter.
We use the German method for naming litters, with each litter assigned a letter of the alphabet, and require that the buyer AKC registers their puppy with a name using this system. For instance, puppies from our "E" litter included Eisen von Bachbett and Elke von Bachbett, our "H" litter Hans von Bachbett and Heidi von Bachbett. We try to permit the buyer to choose the letter name for the puppy, but cannot guarantee this, since it may be a name already taken, or a name we find inappropriate. You may, of course, call the puppy anything you wish at home and for training, not necessarily the name it is formally registered with. The German naming system for registration is necessary, since it allows for a simple way to “trace” the activities and accomplishments of your puppy and its littermates. Also, in the near future, a separate working Boxer registry will be put into place in the United States, through the AWDF, with international acceptance by FCI possible in the years to come.
We are also able to import fine working quality puppies and young adults (even titled dogs) directly from Europe. We have many reliable European contacts, with years of Boxer knowledge behind them, who can find just the right dog or puppy for you. All puppies and dogs must go through a complete health check and temperament evaluation before we will acquire them, and you will receive copies of all health paperwork.. However, since these are not dogs that we ourselves have bred, our puppy health guarantee does not apply to imported puppies or dogs. Prices for imported puppies and dogs are understandably higher than the prices for our home bred puppies and young adults, and there is also the additional cost of shipping from overseas.
If you are interested in importing a puppy or dog from Europe, you will also need to fill out a Puppy / Dog Buyer Profile, and return it to us with a $500 deposit. We request a six month period from the time we receive your deposit, to research and locate a puppy or dog for you. If after the six month period of time is up, you may either extend the time period or receive your deposit back. If you wish, your deposit can be used towards a von Bachbett puppy or an import, whichever is available first.
