The support files available on this site are the up-to-the-second updates, and while we've made every attempt to ensure that they are bug free and reliable, by downloading them you acknowledge that they are at the cutting edge and may have minor problems.
We highly recommend that you backup your previous version of ScriptThing for Windows prior to installing these updates.
To install any of the update files OTHER than the UPDATE DISK IMAGES:
- Download them by clicking on the file you want and select your ScriptThing for Windows subdirectory if your software prompts you for a download path. (This is typically either C:\WINTHING or C:\ScriptThing for Windows)
- RUN the downloaded file by double clicking on it in Windows Explorer (Windows95) or Windows File Manager (Windows 3.x). It may ask you if it should some existing files and you should always respond Y (yes). You will then be updated!
You can download any updated files that you want on a file-by-file basis or you can download Disk Images of the update disks and create a full set of update disks. Once you've done this, you can then use these created disks just as if we'd mailed them to you. Doing this is typically easier for most non-expert users, but it will require you to download more than if you simply update only those files you need. To create the disk images:
- Download all four of the following UPDATE?.EXE files TO YOUR HARD DRIVE, not to floppy disks!
- Once they've all been downloaded, RUN each of the downloaded files in turn by double clicking on the downloaded file in Windows Explorer (Windows95) or Windows File Manager (Windows 3.x). They will each prompt you to insert a blank 1.44M floppy disk in your A: drive and tell you want to label each disk. Follow all on-screen Instructions
- Once you've created all four floppy disks, you can delete the UPDATE?.EXE files from your hard drive if desired. Then put the first floppy disk into your your drive and run A:\UPDATE to completely update your version of ScriptThing for Windows.
NOTE: These update disk images contain both the 32 bit and the 16 bit versions of ScriptThing for Windows and will automatically update your program with the correct version. If you have a problem downloading these files and/or would simpy rather have disks mailed to you, we will be glad to send them to you at a cost to you of US $15.00. Simply e-mail us with your name/address/Serial Number and say that you would like update disks mailed to you and that you agree to pay $15.00 for these disks. We'll send them to you along with an invoice.

DICTEDIT.EXE is a utility which allows you to edit the user dictionaries, so if you inadvertently add a misspelled word to the user dictionary, you can simply delete it without even leaving ScriptThing for Windows.

PRINTHNG.EXE is a stand-alone printer program that the program uses as part of its print preview in addition to allowing you to print your scripts anywhere that has Windows, even without installing the full program!
Note: Version 3.5 can now directly read ScriptThing for Windows scripts without having to first "Print to a PrintThing file" and Version 3.x is required to view compressed/password-protected PrintThing files.

REGISTER.EXE is a utility program for Windows 95 which sets Windows 95 to know that .SCR and .STW files are ScriptThing for Windows files. Simply copy it to your WINTHING Subdirectory and run it once. You can then double click on SCR and STW files in Explorer and it will automatically run ScriptThing for Windows.
