hi, long time no see....obviously we have been layin low....but we have a bunch of new songs!!!!!! I did go with Danielle to Eddies Attic a few weeks ago where she played a songwriters night with Amy Ray and Michelle Malone...very cool!!! They all were on stage at all times and took turns playing. Amy was of course fantastic, her voice sounds really great, and she had some cool new songs(to me at least) Michelle was perfect as always, she played almost all new tunes, my favorite was about her apartment...would like to hear that again. Danielle was very Danielle-like and rocked the house in many ways. a surprise treat came when Kristen Hall showed up and sang a duet with Michelle...they also all closed with "Southern Man" Much fun was had by all...

hi from the nations capitol....we played at a place called Iota, in Arlington with a band from NYC called Mr Henry. they were real cool guys, very polished band kinda like Toad the Wet Sprocket. good club, it was really packed and they fed us a frightfully delicious meal. Tried out some of the new songs for the first time. "Could Be Here" and the as-yet untitled song we call "John's Wilco Song" it was good to get them out in mthe open so we won't be scared of them. there are a few more but they aren't quite ready to be played. Saw John from Spottiswoode and His Enemies who we played with in Athens a while back and he put us up in his kick ass house. I think we will be doin a lot of floor sleepin on this tour. Nothin like wakin up hung over on a hardwood floor with a strange cat sittin on your head. The beer is good, yes the beer is good. The Halo is makin strange clicking noises, perhaps we can decipher this message from her and learn to communicate with the van. John and I continue to come up with multi-million dollar inventions and new businesses. Danielle finished her new solo acoustic record, it sounds really good. I am going to try to talk her in to letting me put a 10 minute long drum solo on it somewhere. Shout At the Devil!!!

I'll pick up on the journals where Troy left off and try to bring y'all up to speed. After IOTA we went to Philly, our first time there as the "band". It was very nice, hi to Tommy, Brian, and Kristen. We played The Pontiac and had a nice time with Emmett Swimming. Had a nice time talking in the dressing room with those guys. After the gig there were some gnarly fights outside in the street in front of the pizza by the slice place. Philly seemed to be a pretty rough town to us. We headed in to NYC on our day off next, and relaxed a bit. While in NY we played two gigs, one at Coney Island High (Cyclone Room)and the other at Knitting Factory. The two shows were very different. Coney Island has a very dark, punk feel. In fact, the walls are black and they had a punk show late night after we played. It was fine, except Danille left her coat there which occupied a lot of our time later trying to retrieve (without success). The knitting Factory was more upscale. There were several rooms, a balcony, top notch sound system etc. We played with Candy Butchers who sounded really tight and had great pop songs. I'm looking forward to their Cd coming out this spring. One thing about NYC is that it's a real hassel for band to deal with parking Vans, Trailers, and loading gear into these venues. After a few trips up there, I think Bryan and I now know the deal. We found a good, secure parking lot on the west side hwy where we could park the halo and the spruce caboose. We had the luxury of Danielle's cousin Sam being there with his pickup truck. Sam shuttled our gear from storage to the first gig, and then over to the second gig later the same night, where it lay until we needed it the second night. Then, we pick it up on the next day on our way out of town. Since we are mostly on foot in NY this makes things easier, out of sight out of mind. We had some nice times hanging out int he city as well, we went places called 2A, 7B, and even walked through times square by accident. I'm starting to know my way around now, and let the group pretty well, except the time Bryan and I got on the express train and almost ended up in Brooklyn. We drove out of the city and got a room outside of DC and splurged on having beds to sleep in. Sam and I went to the museum of Air and Space at the Smithsoneum on the next day off. It was inspiring. We also saw the Star WArs exibit, with actual models and costumes from the movies. Did you know that the Millenium Falcon has parts from model cars and airplanes glued to it, and an actual Champion Spark plug decal on the front? Next gig was the Black Cat in DC, which was notable for several reasons. One we were playing with a group including Geoff Turner, who recorded the parts of About to Burst done in DC. Geoff is a really nice guy. So nice, in fact, that when it was discovered there was no soundman for the evening, he, Dante, and myself, all pitched in and did sound ourselves. It came out fine, and once again I was happily surprised at the crowd turnout and that we were playing good. After the show we went back to the hotel and played Galaga all night in the lobby. The next day was a lengthy, rainy drive to Charlotte and a show at the Tremont. Pool tables, parking lots, what happened?? We were all weary afterwards and b-lined back to our beds in Cola town. We woke up and headed down to the practice room to move our stuff out 'cuz we got kicked out (new business took over lease). We need a practice room!!! After that, a quick drive to Charleston and a good show at Cumberlands. Got to see many old crew folks there, congrats to Robert t and the Mingos on the record contract. Hopefully something like that will happen for us soon as well. I hope.

Chapel Hill, Columbia, Atlanta:

Once again we enjoyed the fine vintage video games at the Cat's Cradle in Chapel Hill. Track and Feild, Tron, Galaga (the old standby), donkey kong. Ahh the memories. Going to Chapel Hill is always more thrilling for Bryan than any of us, especially when his most favorite team the Tarheels are playing basketball. Well, we watched the heels on TV in the bar since they were in CLemson that night. We made him switch between commericals over to Robbie Kneivel's Las Vegas building to Building jump. The gig was a four band event, sponsored by some record store and I think there was a local compilation CD involvement as well, but I never got the whole story. The crowd was a little thin this night. We played last, most of the crowd seemed to be the other bands and other local musicians. It was a pretty good gig nonetheless. Next it was a dreary long drive to Columbia to play New Brookland Tavern. This gig reunited us with Block, a group we've played with a good bit in the past. Jamie BLock has a new record deal, and had a new bass player. They played well, and it was good to see em again. We had a good, rowdy home style gig. By this I mean that we slipped into our typical silly selves when at home, and played somewhat wacky, and too long. the crowd was pretty good, a relief since it was a new club for us to play. Next day we all were very tired and the drive to Atlanta was pretty tedious. We were at the Point again, and Block and Bellaluna were playing the gig as well. After a weird set-up and soundcheck I went to the van and slept until showtime. Troy said BLock kicked ass that night. I missed everything. Our performance was pretty tired as well, but we pulled it off. Wasting no time, we drove back that night, and rocked out to Metallica, Hobex, Rage against the machine the whole way back to stay awake.

Flo town last night was a delight as usual. There's a certain feeling you get playing a wednesday night in a small southern town for 40 drinkers, half of whom could care less if there's a band or not. We, of course, had a good time and played our best. This gig started late, but surprisingly there were more people there after we finished our set than before. highlights included the almost flo town standard cover of cold gin with Ruba on vocals. you should have seen danielle scurry on stage and get her guitar out of the way as ruba rampaged! We went back on for an encore and did the weird songs, irish, wrestling (good aucioneering vocals by danielle) down, and then returned back to our homes, where we gather to prepare for our next assualt and find a new space to practice in.

I'm setting up a email list for the band. how it works is that you sign up, and once a member can exchange messages with all the other members regarding things about the band or whatever. Expect details elsewhere on our web page soon, when I know how to give you exact directions. It's all in the name of good fun, and of course we'll be listening. rock on.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZzz......

Oh, hey! Yeah, we're still here.

As you might have noticed, there are no new Tour Journal entries since we've been non-functioning lately. I can only say that I hope everyone will continue to check in for updates since we'll hopefully become active again soon on stage. Our next gig is at the St. Patricks Day festival in Columbia on March 20th. This will be the 4th anniversary for the group. And I should also mention that we are still in need of a rehearsal room, so if anybody has any connections in Columbia with a space we can move into please email the band soon! Dispite hard attempts, it seems there just isn't much available for groups to rent CHEAP.

Troy and I have been staying somewhat busy as of late with rehearsing with our newest side project. The idea is acutally quite old, but we are just now getting around to practicing with our Neil Diamond tribute band. I should probably say no more.

hey....St. Pat's in Cola was a blast as it always is...we get to play to giant crowds and all of our friends are hangin out...but i can't believe Jun blew us off and didn't come. Also saw some cool shows by Hickory hawkins and Side Meat, and Five Way Friday. I had to miss the Root Doctors SuperFunky Express tho cuz i had a semi-annual show with Tootie and the Jones 10 minutes after we played....so although no records were set i did get to play twice. (in 1996 i think....i played 4 shows in one day) i'm such a stud. We learned a new punk-rock song the day before St. Pats and played it in front of about 10,000 people...i think it went off pretty good, it has no name yet. We actually have about 4 new songs that are being played now. I want to write an instrumental rock opera based on the book of Genesis that will be performed in real time. So each of the 7 movements will last for exactly 24 hours. then we will perform it for 7 days straight from each of the 7 wonders of the world...although i'm not really sure what the 7 wonders of the world are. I think one of them might be Big Horse's ass. over and out

well The First Annual Columbia Colassal Music Crawl was quite a success...it was our towns attempt at a CMJ/SXSW style music festival and conference. about 30 bands played in 5 venues around town. John and I went to the early all-ages punk show and saw some great stuff. F-13 from Cola put on a kick-ass old school Black Flag style show...6/10 Split rocked hard, and local soon to be global heroes Stretch Armstrong blew the roof off of The New Brookland Tavern. The fire department came and hosed down the building so that we could do our show later that night and while they did that we cruised over to some other shows. Our friends Verna Cannon played a mesmerizing set at Monterrey Jacks. if you haven't seen them shame on you, they are touring alot now so you have no excuse. We saw Steve Dixon and crew from My Sweet Etc. (from Atlanta) unfortunately we had the same time slot at different venues and had to miss their show. Their singer Yellow has such a powerful voice that i don't even think she uses a microphone. Also saw Larb for the first time....really cool improv jazz noise type stuff. Then we took the trolley back to our venue and caught some of Chapel Hill's Glory Fountain. They were borrowing the rhthym section from cola's Stelle Group and sounded great. The beer was flowing like the river nile now and Danielle got up and did a really cool acoustic set. She played a few new ones i hadn't heard. the Tavern was getting fire-hazard crowded by now and as i was setting up my drums by the ladies restroom some women came up to me and said "what little band do you play in?" as if i were a ten year old boy with a lollipop in my mouth. it was a strange moment. I treasure these strange moments. i found rather strange the girl who kept screaming "Danielle Mutherf%$#@in Howle!!" between every song too. We were a bit sloppy due to lack of practice space and therefore actual practice, but I think we hid it with good old fashioned reckless abandon. I think the fact that Isabella's Gift was up after us made us pull out more of the rockin tunes as well.... if you haven't heard the Gift before, they sound like Gun's n Roses, Metallica, Anti-Seen, WWF, a broken bottle of Jack Daniels, a strip-bar, and a bright yellow bulldozer rolled up in a joint and smoked by the winner of a Tough-Man contest. and i mean that as a good thing. I love seeing a show where you actually feel like you might be in some kind of danger. and i also thought it was awesome that The organizers of the event put us together on the same bill. ok i've rambled long enough in a most un-entertaining way....i'm gettin rusty...oh yeah then me john and the Horse went out drinkin all night...we lost danielle somewhere after the show...if you find her please mail her back to us, we have a 2 week tour comin up.

hi, fun show at the Cat's Cradle, always fun when we play with the Blue Dogs. Hooked up with manager man Thomas(BY GOD!) for some pizza and strategy before the show...pretty good crowd for a tuesday, everyone was real cool to us and enthusiastic. We accidentally drank all the Blue Dogs beer tho....(ours was in the other dressing room....we didn't know there was another dressing room) Hung out with the drummer from Squirrel Nut Zippers for a bit....he made fun of South Carolina alot....(it's so much more redneck than North Carolina you know) Spent a good 20 bucks on the awesome vintage video games at the Cradle (Track-n-Field, Asteroids, Tron, Galaxians) Big Horse is proud to have a top score on Track/Field

watched the Dogs kick ass and headed back to Cola-town(uuuggghhh 4 hours!!)

"Michael Stipe!!!!.....Bill Berry!!!!......Fred Schneider!!!.....Herschel Walker!!!!"

these are things we like to yell when entering Athens and seeing someone walking down the street who may or may not resemble the above celebrities, for our own amusement.

Athens is a great place, played the 40 watt with the Michelle MaLONESTARS. Lots of fun The PA and room sound great there, and lots of folks came out early and saw us. We played a semi-acoustic set for some reason which is a fun way to present our songs. Our shows lately have been pretty hi-voltage affairs concentrating on the ROCKIN songs, so it was nice to lay back a little and play some more of the mellow stuff.

video game report: D+ -old pinball game that stole money and decent pool table beer situation: D+ -no free beer....$1 domestics

good to see michelle and gang....she was a little sick but still put on a great show....Michael is an awesome drummer with a great voice, and Sheila is a goddess Gerard McCugh was also there and he sounded great Where was Michael Wegner?? we missed havin him sit in on piano with us, it would have been a great night for it :(((

Supermodel Pinup God Brad Zimmerman from athens legends Dayroom came to the show and hung out with us, he is a great guy, helped us find a motel and then came over the next day and entertained/tour guided us the rest of the afternoon. We had a blast hangin out, eatin taco's and generally lolligaggin around athens. We even annoyed him with the "Mike Mills!!!" jokes..(I never get tired of it) ok after that we went to the super secret underground training site/ intelligence headquarters of Dayroom(brad first gassed us and put us in burlap bags in his trunk so as to not know the exact location) and met up with his band for the trip to Augusta. (caravan baby!!)

Dayroom had these kick-ass walkie-talkies and gave us one so we could communicate as we rolled down the road. as you can imagine, these were used strictly for emergencies and for the sharing of important or critical information only. such as "extremely attractive female: red miata, comin up at 6 o'clock...set phasers to stun, over..."

it's the little things that keep us all going

Greetings, freaks! Time for a new journal entry, to recap the madness from the road. Augusta with Dayroom was fine, afterwards we went to Savannah and had a nifty time as well. Finally the jinx has been broken- and our show went as expected. The next stop was Charlotte where we played at the Center City Fest. It is really good to play at one of these big events and have a good PA system and feel comfortable. We caught the Ultraviolets show (Troy is taking over here cuz John has over-elixated) they rocked in a very Cola-town manner...Vic from the UV's was workin the crowd into a sticky frenzy.....for those who hAve kept up with the journal entry's for the past year, you will remember that vic was our tour manager for the first indigo girls tour.

by the way we got back from savannah at around 5 in the am and had to be in charlotte at 10.....yikes sleep, yikes sleep, so we get there and 2 of the bands have cancelled and we didn't play until 3. That'll teach us to be on time.

So anyways they had kegs of beer behind our stage which is how it should be. We had to leave the show right after we played to get danielle back to some babbitt gig so we filled the Blue Halo up to the door handles with keg beer and slurped our way back to Columbia.

a good place to be is in front of a sunset. the way I got there was in the passenger seat of the blue halo. Big Horse was sleeping in the back. He said later people were milling in the front and back of van. I knew he knew I was there. I was the front miller. The blues kept creeping into each other, but there was no fight. All the other evening colors of spring sunset had vanished, jutst like youguys all do after we play.

I am in the bathroom when this happens because i need to go, which means it is hard for me to remeber the faces of places. I get sidetracked. They say I need to talk about the rock now...

All I know is the sub tropical trees, looking much different than the ones at home, help me hold another southern sunset. We and the other me's in myself were scratching out a letter to a friend. But I got here because because. I love music see you soon. Typing my thoughts is very new. I shall adjust.. DMFH

Our gig in Tampa was in an area of town known as Ybor, which I learned was a cuban word, and the area was once a cigar manufacturing area a hundred years ago. "Have a Tampa". These days, the factories and such have been converted into neat little bars and restaurants. We played in a courtyard, and had a neat spiffy time. I wont bother to describe the late night jam in detail, but DAnielle was on organ and biggun was on upright bass. this took place at the very swank home of the promoter, JAck. We got a chance to hear a bit of the new Tom Waits disk. Here in Orlando, we first checked in to the most amazingly small hotel room. You can't close the bathroom door without lifting the seat. Our gig was at the Sapphhire Supper club, a venue we played a year ago or so. The early show was Murphy's Law, and after they were done doggie stylin' and such we got loaded in and played. Tonight there was a pretty snall crowd. Now, I'm not complaning since more than two people is a good draw to me considering that nobody knows who the heck we are. But, I wish the bar had more activity, which could lead to our having a return gig.

Everyone has faded off to sleep, guess I'll do the same. More reports later. ta ta

Less see... After Orlando, we went to spend the day at the beach. What beach? we picked Daytona, and drove the halo right out on the sand and parked it next to a hot dog trailer. We esach divided up some money (I got 2 bucks) and wandered about. I played two expensive video games int he arcade, danielle and the rest swam and then we rolled skee ball. It was a nice day, wathcing the young kids look at each other dancing and blasting loud car radios, and all the people on the rented four-wheelers and golf carts on the beach. I saw a golf cart that looked like a convertible mustang, and another that looked like a dodge truck that looks like a tractor trailer. Just as the tops of our feet were getting sunburnt the rain came and we ran back to the van. The rain didn't stop for days. We drove to Jacksonville and had an interesting gig at a new place called "jack rabbits". Interesting in that it might have been our worst show ever or at least top 5. We made it through, and surpisingly there were about 6 people there and they said the liked it. Even sold a cd and a shirt. We waited a while for some others to wander in late for nightcaps so the bar could get enough money to pay us our guarentee. Wooo. The rain kept coming down all the way to Charleston. At Cumberlands we were ready to end the trip with a good show at our regular stomping grounds and finish up on a good note. We then heard about the other shows that night: Wilco and Vic Chestnutt at Music Farm and Hobex/Blue Dogs/SKWZBZZ somewhere else. Uh-oh! Things in fact did turn out fine, and we had a really good show, and a crowd came after all. Lovely!

May 17, 1999 , 14:45

As part of her kick off for the "Catalog" CD release, Danielle played a show here in Columbia at a space known as the 701 Gallery on Whaley St. Olympia. The place is an old factory or soemthing, and is huge. The current function of the building is a art center and performance space, mostly jazz concerts in the main room, and a lot of artists spaces in the many little rooms where people paint, sculpt, whatever. In addition to performing by herself, Troy and I sat in on some tunes as well as Katie Hamilton on cello and D's roomate Alex played accordion a bit. The turn out was pretty descent, all the tables were full and there were some people standing also. Danielle did a good job, she played primarily tunes from the new CD and also had a spoken story to accompany "Tops of Trees". As far as the backup players (us) we did okay, there were really nice moments and some sketchy ones. I mis-capoed on "Group boys" and looked like an idiot for a while (normal?). Danielle nearly choked herself during "Tie up the Moon" with a coughing spell somehow but recovered soon enough and all was okay. Troy played guitar on a song as well! But, the show remained a showcase for Danielle's solo side to the music career, and the crowd reaction seemed very pleasing.

we stayed a t a motel in asheville, then went into town for food and supplies......chose a cuban joint for lunch. Now personally, i like plain ass food...Arby's to me is the greatest food on earth but these kids i play in a band with always want the froo-froo crap. So we have to seek out the nifty, trendy foreign foods with horrificly painted walls and 50's furniture and lamps and peirced personnel. "we need squid burritos with angel hair salad and tofu paste"

85 percent of the time we leave these places in a huff, shitty food, shitty service, stomach problems. i have never heard anyone in our band complain about Arby's.

so after we expanded our stomaches and Danielle bought some candle stuff in Ashville, we headed through the mountains to Knoxvegas. I couldn't stop listening to this Ivy CD I have, and blasted it full volume over and over in my headphones and talked real loud and played air drums/guitar much to the annoyance of my bandmates. We showed up early to the club, and tinkered around the little downtown area looking in shops or else resting in the van until we loaded in to Birds Eye View. This was a really nice bar/acoustic club/coffe house, but the sounds system wasn't that great. We ended up just running vocals through the PA and DH's acoustic, and we controlled the rest of the mix ourselves via stage volume. The opener was a local duet plus percussion, and darnit I can't remember the girls name but she had a very powerful voice and the band guys were nice also. They brought many fans, or at lease a large percentage of the small crowd were their fans. We've normally done better in KV, but we can safely blame it on "school being out for the summer" or whatever and make ourselves feels better, but there were only 30 people there or so. We played pretty darm well regardless, I'd say. Afterwards we went back to our host, Randall "money" Brown's house and chilled out. Next day we said goodbye and headed down 75 towards atlanta. On the way from town we hit a best buy to get video tape for Troy's camera, and next door was a huge Musicians Friend store. We went in there and goofed off. Troy got sucked into an alternate universe playing the electronic drum kit with headphones, and I looked at all the mixing boards and such. Bryan headed back to the van for a nap. Danielle actually spent some cahs on another pickup for a her backup acoustic. Troy was embarrased becasue he had done something he vowed never to do- he was wearing a "Pro-Mark" drum stick t-shirt in the music store. "Nerd Alert!" "Look at me- I'm sponsored, or at least I want you to think I am!" "where's my free sticks?" So we finally left and headed to Atlanta. We hit a huge traffic jam on the interstate and ended up showing up at the Echo Lounge tardy but not in trouble. The Daemon Showcase was awesome!! The club was packed out, and a really happening rock club it was. One room, the "air-conditioned room", featured groovy futuristic clothing. All of the bands kicked a lot of butt! 3 finger cowboy did a ripping "don't Fear the Reaper" cover which might have been the highlight of the night for me. We played alright, though it was pretty loud and hot on stage under the french fry warmer lights. I'll let Troy describe the after show activities, if he dares....

john was correct the atlanta show was mucho fun. he forgot to mention that the dressing room in the echo lounge had a friggin pool table in it. These darn atlanta bars know how to treat people. hmmmmm the after show party was a wee bit silly. We decided to go to Danielle's friend Ben's house which we were told was "out in the country"

we didn't realize at the time that they meant it was in a different country...it was about an hour outside of Atlanta in the opposite direction from home, but we got there and it was really cool...out in the woods a little stream flowing by, a campfire, and many fancy, imported sports elixir's. Well we was a drinkin and chattin as tantrums often do when we noticed that the sun was comin up, kinda ruining the party. I vaguely remember some kind of rock and mud fight in the aforementioned stream where John recieved a good soaking from Big Horse and then a foolish decision to just head the 5 hours back to Columbia...(this was about 7 am now i think.)

after a pit stop at the local liquor store(who knew they opened at 7?) for some breakfast bloody mary's it was a halo-riffic journey back to cola-town...arriving at a fun-shiny 12 noon. that was the big blow-out for the tantrums before we take an indefinate break as Danielle goes to tour solo. Originally she was to tour in May, but now it is June and July, and i have heard possibly some dates in August too.

John and I have resurrected our band Cherry Cherry Pow Pow, which formed around '94 to play some shows and hopefully record this summer. Big Horse is living in Ridgeville SC and fishing alot. Tantrums Out (for now)

what, we are still alive??? sorry we have gotten so slack, but we really are still doin stuff. i guess the novelty of writng clever and insightful tales wore off a bit, but that is no excuse. we have played quite a few shows that i haven't talked about, but the highlight was a tour with a band from Indiana called Old Pike. they were really cool, kinda reminded me of early Bruce Springsteen. We had some good adventures with them around the southeast, and up towards Nashville.....culminating in a last night of the tour party that involved beer, poker, acoustic guitars, beer, lost singers, holes in walls, and beer.I was the first one in bed at around 7 am (what a lightweight) and Old Pike was still up playin guitars when we were leaving.....kids today!!! Atlanta was fun but sad, as we were the last show ever in the Cotton Club. You may have read me rave about that club in the past, and it will be missed greatly by us. we also taped a tv show called Homegrown which aired on ETV in the southeast. Hopefully it will be picked up across the country and aired again. I thought it was really cool, and Jump Little Children and Cravin Melon also appeared on it. it actually was on last night, and i got to watch it for the first time in a quiet room where i could actually hear it, and damn i'm a good drummer, and by far the best looking man in the southeast.sometimes you really have to see yourself on tv before you realize how important you are to the future of all mankind. oyh no, i'm doing it again. anyway, we have a tour with Jump!! comin up soon, as well as the magnificent St. PAddy's Day show, and hopefully a show with the Indigo Girls in charlotte next month,,,,oh also the Colossal Music Crawl in Columbia, and the 3 rivers festival....some come on and see us. by the way the Blue Halo has been dead for a while now, so we cancelled the insurance while we waited to fix it....just in time for someone to smash in to it as it was parked in front of Danielle's house. they didn't bother to stop and report it, but i assume thats because whoever it was probably just left our show at the Publicke House for the Great Gunneis Toast, which was about a block away, and was as drunk as we were. in other words one of our fans probably totaled our van, and damn it WE WOULDN'T HAVE IT ANY OTHER WAY!!! So come on do we really not have any rich fans who want to just give us a van so we can spread our musical joy through out the land???anyone? anyone? see ya soon

As you might guess, a lot has happened in the past year. Well, some stuff anyway. A few changes in mangement, btu the band still has the same lineup and purpose: to rock as much as possible. Danielle's solo album "catalog" on Kill Rock Stars label, had a healthy run and she toured the states in support. we played on a TV show here in SC called Home Grown which was a blast. Danielle toured with the Indigo Girls. Our can was wrecked. We started writing songs again. The stuff you might imagine. Thought as a group our appearances are fewer and farther between, we are still at work if somewhat more realxed. Given that to make a living at music you need soem golden token that we don't seem to posses, we are in a more part time mode balancing the band with our lives and jobs. The most common, and deservedly so, comments when we play are "when the heck are you guys gonna make a new record?" and "is Camaro Power going to be on the next record?" I can answer both with a "Yes". The honest truth is that we do not at this date have a plan to release another album, but that's only because we floating in the midst of several options. One thing we know, is that we will be doing more songwriting (or learning DH's songs as the case may be) and going into hiding to make a self produced demo of new material very soon. What for? For one thing to get these batches of half done tunes down on ink. Also, to forward to prospective record releasers and to bake in their minds for a while. As far as immediate news to spurt, we just finished a little leg of very cool dates with Jump Little Children, on their very well done "Bobsheviek Revolution Tour". They hammered out a nice regional Theater and College tour themselves with multimedia stage stuff and musical precision. Next is a few scattered dates including some California gigs by Danielle solo. See concert page for more info. On the personal side: Danielle has fixed up her car "Lewis" and has a trustwothy steed for using to get to solo gigs has a new job at a plant nursery, Troy has been giggin with Tootie and the Jones (cover band) in places and also recorded with the new hot Columbia band "Donnie Bravado" (I think that's the name) which came out with a great sounding recording as well as making the cool JLC merchandise they had on tour, Bryan might be getting a new truck and I got engaged to long time sweetie Libby (yeah, sang some backups on About To Burst) and have been competing in off road trials motorcycling. We hope to see you our there soon, and sory about the severe slackness in web site updates.....

Folks, cobwebs have taken over.... website way out of date..... must fix..... Okay, we are slack. If you are reading this then bless you, it is a miracle. The truth be known, though the website is virtually inactive, and the band on break, we are not DEAD! Danielle has been continuing to pump out the jams. She's been writing and recording and performing. Last weekend she baby-sat my dog, schultz, and took him with her to Denmark SC to a folk fest where she performed a few tunes. This weekend sh'e doing a spoken word type show in Charleston. The band are in a constant state of readyness balanced by being themselves and not really concerned abou the music business. It feels great! Approx two weekends ago we went to Neeses, SC and spent the weekend in a fine cabin which was kindly lent to us by a friend of Troy's. The cabin, owned by a friends father, sits on a pond in the middle of spacious rural SC and inside had a great room with war/military memoribilia from folks the owner met by being a mayor of the town and serviceman. It was very nice and relaxed. We set up recording equipment and recorded into a special built PC some tunes and watched spiders and geese and fished. The recording sounds sweet. My brother Dan thinks the hit is "Karaoke" but he suggested adding a accordion and a chorus of "drunks" which is exactly what I was thinking!!! No matter what we do to it it was a fun session and a healthy outing for the group.

Winter is seeping in, and the band has been sleeping in. We made the demo, played a show or two and are deciding on the best spot for hibernaion. News alerts? Well, D has a goal of a web site featuring tunes on CD and candles in wax for purchase vie "e commerce". Right on. T and I are dusting off the noise generators for a show with the pow pow. The three of us played last weekend in Cola, opened for 6-10 Split. It was a Danielle solo show, but she wanted us to help out. What ahappened was we played some of our tunes, some special new and seldom played material and improvised without having Bryan o cover us on the bass. Altogether OK nonetheless. I hear some Florida dates being setup in March of 2001. Yoinks. Thanks for reading.

I just looked and was shocked to see that this web site is still up! Apologies to those looking for new info for Danielle Howle and the band. Please visit www.daniellehowle.com as it is now the real home for the music of danielle. but, since you are here, a quick update to what's happening as of now: The new webpage mentioned above has merch for sale and soon will have the danielle artwork/candles that she has wanted to do for so long. Also, in the next few weeks will be the release of another band CD on Daemon titled "Skorborealis". It has 16 tunes produced and engineered by Jon Plymale who deserves much thanks for working so hard on it for us. We have still been in a prt-time band mode for a while but as you might guess Danielle has still been very active in the music industry. She has gone to NY and been a panelist on music seminars, keep on the road some and had a good run on the "Catalog" record. Currently she has been doing some music for films and documentaries. Troy has a new group he plays with called "DONBRAVADO", as well as the "TOOTIE" gigs. Tootie also put out a CD not too long ago. I hope you like the new "Skorborealis" CD! please visit http://www.daniellehowle.com
