"Woe to you, O' earth and sea,
For the devil sends the Beast with wrath
Because he knows the time is short...
Let him who hath understanding reckon the number of the Beast,
For it is a human number,
Its number,
Is six hundred and sixty six..."

11/27/98   "If life is just a beta version of death, then death is just an alpha version of shit creek."

Yes, it's true, I am indeed back at last. The reason behind my hiatus was the fact that my computer's HDD screwed itself out of a boot sector. It's a long, drawn out story and I don't feel like going into it. I'd just like to thank Mordeth for being so kind and letting people know about my plight (yeah, right). The good news is that I'm on a new computer (not my dream system, which should be here very soon). It's not a monster or anything but it's a step up from what I had. And best of all, it was free.
I've also decided to trash the film and book review pages, since it wasn't such a great idea to begin with and I just don't have the time to keep it going. As you may have heard Twilight Warrior is finally out, I haven't gotten a chance to try it yet but it looks promising.
Also, if you've never played Blood or haven't been able to find it, there's now a collection entitled One Unit Whole Blood. This box set includes the registered version of Blood, the Plasma Pack add-on, the Cryptic Passage add-on, and a CD-Rom strategy guide. It retails for around $24.99 and is definately worth the money.
Oh, and if you're reading this update tonight why not turn to the Superstation for an Eastwood marathon featuring many of the Dirty Harry films.

10/08/98   'Quando Prandimus?' Translation: 'When's Lunch?'

Well, I got around to fixing the link to the Zombies TC, sorry folks if it was unworking, but it's fine now.
Not much has gone on in the DOOM Community that I can see. Doom Nation opened their doors, and Doomworld greeted them with gritted teeth instead of open arms. And uhhh...that's it. Ricrob had better redo the damn links page sometime soon as well.

10/04/98   Quando Prandimus?

To start with I'm giving the most important news of the day (well, to me anyway), which is that it's the 3 year anniversary for my girlfriend and I. Of course I'm ecstatic about it, and feel free to send me email congratulations (because we all know how much I love fan mail). =P
     Now for the DOOM news:
Being the ever-resourceful man I am, I have for you the original Zombie DOOM. Entitled Zombies, this rare TC (circa 1995) follows the path of the films Dawn and Day of the Dead. Having played through it I must say it is truly a great work. The levels are huge and complex, definately realistic in nature. And the mall shoot-out with the go-gangers is truly intense. I've added it to my Solo/Co-Op Wads Page for any future DL's.
Also, I'd like to welcome Ricrob back to the DOOM Community, I admittedly hated the way he acted under the Hector persona. But all's quiet on the western front now, it seems.

09/08/98   Words To Live By: "Don't think of it as grossly outnumbered, think of it as having a wide variety of targets to shoot at."

Well, I had a kickass DM session with Orthetic last night. Must've played for about 2 hours minimum...I am dreading this month's long distance bill already. But I got more out of it than one of the best DM's ever, I discovered a wad that damn near beats out every other DM wad I've played. This rarity, entitled KroniKil, Vol. 1 is a superb set of some of the best DM levels around. Sure, it's got its bad points, and not all of the levels are masterfully done, but for the most part it's just great. Levels 2, 3, and 4 are simply a blast, with the others coming in a close second. I've also added it to my DM Wads page for safe keeping, where you can find the wad from hence forth if you ever...misplace it.
The Abode will soon be featuring exclusive screenshots of the upcoming Deathmatch megawad Crucified Dreams, courtesy of the project's leader, Scott Cover (AKA: Covaro). Also, Justin Madigan has yet to get me his snail mail address so I can send him his prize. Just wanted to tell him to get on the ball. ;)
I appologize for the page being down all day, and when I found out about it I was at the office and couldn't do a thing to remedy it. Thank you AOL...

09/06/98   HOT DAMN! 10,000 at last!

Top story, the Abode hits number 10,000 after its big-ass update. Of course, as you'll remember I promised the winner a prize. Well Justin Madigan, owner of Doom News is the proud winner of.. *drumfill* ..Bethseda Softworks' 3D shooter, SkyNET. Here's the screenshot of the event from our lucky winner:

Ahhh, glorious days...I'm also trying to update more often since real life has intruded on my old "once-a-day updates" and turned them into "twice-a-month updates". There's also an update over at the Crypt TC Homepage.

09/05/98   Words To Live By: "Don't think of it as losing a leg, think of it as never having to trip over your own feet again."

Downloaded Doom Legacy 1.25 and played it. By God it works I say, works just fine, glad they fixed the bug. Although there's a rather sloppy oversight on Map 1 of DOOM II, namely the imps in the alcove are stuck together one atop the other.
Being a good little webmaster (kinda, sorta) I've archived the news which was making the page load quite a bit slower than usual for many; as well as added (kinda, sorta) two new attractions to the Abode. The first being The SuperFly's Schlock Film Review", where you'll find news and reviews about the junk you'll find at such fine establishments as Blockbuster, Hollywood Video, and Al's Adult Emporium. Coming very soon is The SuperFly's Pulp Novel Review, where you'll find not-so-frequent reviews on great works of literature like Dante's Inferno, DOOM, and The Encyclopedia of Erotic Massage. Enjoy folks.
Oh, and BTW, don't bother purchasing Nam, that is the saddest use of the Build engine I have ever played. I don't even believe that it's anything besides a marketed Duke3D TC.
