A small glance at the History of the Club

Selkirk Cricket Club was Formed in 1851 but it was not until 1872 that the club moved to the picturesque Philiphaugh ground , before this the club played at the Haugh (Now Victoria Park home of Selkirk Youth Club). The first match on the New ground was a match between Selkirk and the Grange, Selkirk won the Match by 28 Runs. Some great players have graced the ground over the year in the early years one who stands out is John Greive who in 30 years with the club scored over 15000 Runs. On five occasions he topped 1000 runs in a season and twice took 100 wickets in a season, considering he was overseas between 1911 and 1923 these figures are outstanding. other players of note during the early years are Adam Linton, William Greive and Walter Greive. in more recent times the likes of TP Brown, Dougal Mabon, Roy Hall, Keith Anderson, Steven Wilson and Brian Hunter have shone for the club. Many world famous players including Joel Garner and Imran Khan have also played at Philiphaugh, The later played for Pakistan against Scotland on the gound in 1971

Over the years the club has had many talented Overseas players and Profesionals including the likes of Bryn Martin, Ken Frankish, Steve Jones, Richard Straker, Ian Philip, Brad Banister, Mark Harper and Dan Peacock.
