Bad weekend for Selkirk Cricket Club

Saturday On saturday selkirk cricket club were faced with not being able to send a team to langholm to defend the Border League sixes throphy they won in 2006 (2007 rained off). It must be said for the one or two that travelled down to langholm a very enjoyable day was had. Langholm in there 150 year were the winners. they played St Boswells in a very good final St Boswells batted first and made 46 of there 5 overs, Langholm passed there total of the last ball of there innings. Gregor Park was named man of the tournement by Umpires Ron Murray, Stuart Mckay and Grant Kinghorn Selkirk 1st team travel to top of the table Langholm this saturday bus leaves club at 12noon, anyone wishing to come along and watch should be at the club at 11.50 am (fist come basis after team and kit is on). 2008 Carpet Bowls factory Cup Victoria Crescent won a very close final in this year factory cup defeating the Weavers by 1 shot in the final. The two sides met in the group stages on that occasion the match finished in a draw. Winning team Malcolm Lauder (Skip), George Reid John Stratford,Roy Owen After the final they agreed to donate there prize money to Steven Horton who is running the equivalent of five marathon's in six day's for MENCAP in Morroco.

Selkirk Cricket Club under-13 team shone at the Ettrick and
Lauderdale Sports Awards when they picked up the Team of the Year award Cricket Scotland's Neil Cameron was on
hand to present the youngsters with their award. The Selkirk Under 13 team won both
the league and cup competion and were unlucky to be beat by The Grange u-13 in the National cup Selkirk u-13's are sponsored
by NDS joiners

Selkirk 2nds Retain League title Selkirk 2nds retained the Border
Reserve League, winning all there games except away to Penicuik. This season saw the 1st appearence for the 2nds
of Josh Welsh, Jordan Reid and Lee Oliver all making telling contributions to the team that was led for the 1st
time by Michael Fenton who along with Grant Kinghorn pilled on the runs for the cause. Leading bowlers were David
Gardiner, Darren Fenton and Michael Fenton. All photos shown
