As
the complexities of payroll administration become more recognized and demanding,
it becomes even more important to stay abreast of the many ever-changing issues
affecting our profession. Becoming a member of the American Payroll Association,
on both the national and
local levels,
is an important step toward attaining this goal. APA membership assures you of
a reliable, convenient, and accurate source of information and support which will
help you manage your payroll operation smoothly and effectively through various
educational topics. The SEPAC of the APA is the local chapter serving the Philadelphia/Delaware Valley area. In addition to a longstanding relationship with the National APA office, the SEPAC, also works with and supports the Western PA Chapter (Keith) and the Susquehanna Chapter (John). Several of the chapter members have been called upon to serve on National APA committees, task forces, and the APA hotline. The chapter also sponsors social events open to all chapter members and guests periodically. Past events have included Broadway plays, casino trips, and dinner shows; all of them have been well received by chapter members.
On average, one social event per year is planned and new suggestions for social
activities are always welcome.Chapter membership is open to all professionals involved in payroll, human resources, compensation and benefits or accounting. Although it is not a requirement of the chapter, membership in the APA National organization is encouraged. Members have as little as a few months to as many as 20 plus years of experience in the payroll profession. In addition to being a great place to network, share ideas and problems, enhance professional growth, chapter meetings allow members to get to know each other in a relaxed setting. The chapter supports members' efforts to attain and maintain professional certification through the APA's Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) program. In conjunction with Montgomery County Community College, the chapter supports APA's Payroll Professional Learning Series . The chapter also conducts a CPP preparation class for its members through our CPP Study Group. In addition, most chapter meetings are certified for Continuing Education Units (CEU's) which accumulate toward renewal of the CPP certification. |
