Descriptions on the left have been adapted from the construction updates given each Sunday as apart of the weekly Mass announcements. Photos were taken usually once each week, although some weeks were missed. Additional photos will be added as time permits. The panorama images (starting with November, 2003) were created using PanoramaMaker®, "stitching" together two or more digital photos. The software sometimes induces some distortions and errors (buildings tilt slightly, cables have gaps, etc.), but the end result is worth the effort. Additionally, some photos required a good deal of editing, and in some case features were "borrowed" from other photos or even deleted entirely. All photos and images are by Jim Cook, unless noted otherwise, and may be used freely by parishioners and any others having a hand in the construction of our new church. Please Note: Clicking on the photo or its date will open a seperate browser window to display the image. [Also, for additional photos, see the Wurick Family MSN Groups online photo album.]

August, 2004 [08/01/04] The tower steel did arrive on Monday and the contractors were able to install the steel columns. However the welding needed to be done on the upper tower steel planned for Wednesday was delayed due to rain. The welding is now planned for Monday, August 2nd. [The current planned date for raising the tower into place is now set for Monday, August 9th.] As you can see, the contractors are making great progress with the plywood on the roof. [08/08/04] The contractors have welded the tower pieces together and decided to attach the light gauge steel and plywood to the tower while it is on the ground. It will be lifted into place this coming week. The wall studs and floor frames have been installed on the main floor dividing the sacristy, reconciliation rooms, bathrooms, etc. The holes have been core drilled through the floor for the plumbing of the main floor. The exterior walls have been wrapped in Tyvek. |

The image above shows work being done on the tower roof on August 6. The images on the right show the series of events, starting just before 8:00 AM on the morning of August 10, as the tower roof was lifted into position and secured in place. The images on the far right are from later in the morning. In all, it took 25 photos to construct these 9 images. Most are large files, to give viewers the sense of actually being there. |
