Mother Seton Church Construction
(October 2004 and beyond)

[Like the church itself, this page has taken a while getting off the ground -- and it, too, is still under construction.]

Descriptions on the left have been adapted from the construction updates given each Sunday as apart of the weekly Mass announcements. Photos were taken usually once each week, although some weeks were missed. Additional photos will be added as time permits. The panorama images (starting with November, 2003) were created using PanoramaMaker®, "stitching" together two or more digital photos. The software sometimes induces some distortions and errors (buildings tilt slightly, cables have gaps, etc.), but the end result is worth the effort. Additionally, some photos required a good deal of editing, and in some case features were "borrowed" from other photos or even deleted entirely. All photos and images are by Jim Cook, unless noted otherwise, and may be used freely by parishioners and any others having a hand in the construction of our new church.

Please Note: Clicking on the photo or its date will open a seperate browser window to display the image. [Also, for additional photos, see the Wurick Family MSN Groups online photo album.]

[10/03/04] The contractors continue to close up the last part of the tower and continue installing siding. The interior walls were insulated. Work has begun installing drywall in the main body of the church. The masons will complete the last remaining section of the exterior block and will have begun installing the interior masonary block. The electricians, fire sprinkler installers and plumbers continue their work.

[10/10/04] The contractors closed the tower this week. The exterior siding installation continues, as does the masonary work on the interior walls. The utility conduits for the natural gas and electric are being run at this time. The pad for the HVAC equipment will be poured. The windows have arrived and will be installed soon. The dedication Mass was announced for December 18, 2004.

November, 2004

[Please note: the web page guy was away for two weeks and, consequently, no photos were taken between Oct. 30 and Nov. 14. However, since most of the work is going on inside, and the exterior of the new church had not changed all that much in that time, not much was missed.]

[11/07/04] The installation of the elevator has begun. The exterior sidewalk and steps continue to be formed and poured. The installation of the large windows has begun. The finishers and painters continue their work on the ceilings and walls.

[11/14/04] The gas line was hooked up to the building and the HVAC equipment is up and running. The painters continue their work on the remaining walls and ceilings. The floors are being prepared for the tile installation this week. The recessed lighting fixtures and pendants are being installed in the church. The bathroom fixtures arrived on Friday and will be set in the restrooms this coming week.

[11/19/04] [Since the exterior had not changed much from the previous week's pictures (and with the fences open and not much going on outside), these images were taken of the new church from the reverse angles of those normally taken each week.]

[11/28/04] The contractor for the windows enclosed the tower on Friday. The wall coverings for the lower level bathrooms have been installed. Installation of the sod has begun, as can be seen along the exterior walk near the parish center. The stained glass windows were installed on Monday and the etched glass panels were installed on Tuesday.

December, 2004

[12/05/04] Raising of the tower cross has been delayed by bad weather over the past 10 days, but it will be going up before the dedication. The floor tile in the nave has been installed and sealed. The ceiling tiles are being installed throughout the narthex and sacristy areas. The plumbing fixtures are being installed. The mason has completed the rounded wall in the sanctuary. The speakers have been installed and the contractors will continue to work on the audio system. The pews arrived on Monday and the contractor will begin their installation.

[12/08/04] Raising the tower cross.
The tower cross was hoisted and lowered into place on its mount atop the church tower on Wednesday, Dec. 8th, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. It came to rest at on it's post at 11:23 AM. Workers secured it over the next hour. The hoist was released sometime during that hour. Unfortunately, the photographer was inside at the Noon Mass and missed the shot. :-\

The first four images were taken shortly after 9:30 A.M., prior to the start of the Dedication Mass. The last image is of the new church taken immediately following its dedication (at about 12:40 P.M.).
