Mariner 16 PLACE

Now we are talking about commercial size, whether hauling supplies to a back country camp or hauling a load of tourists on a ride that can not be forgotten.

With a hull size of 8.5 feet by 25 to 28 feet, Mariner is a scaleup of the Vanguard design, and uses a pair of Subaru EA 82 1.8L engines for this two propeller sev. Aluminum frames on each side of the hull are unfolded so this sev is effectively 14 feet wide when operating. (The hull can be manually folded to 8 1/2 feet wide for highway trailering.)

With a top over water speed of 40 mph and fuel use of around 5 gallons per hour, this sev can cruise relaxed at 30 mph plus speeds on just 60% power. This sev can haul over 2400lb payloads over big and small waters. Mariner uses two drives, similar to the drive used in the north to Alaska Explorer.

Plans and instruction manual are available for $92US, including first class postage, US, Can, Mex. (Foreign add $3). Critical Parts for Mariner such as propellers, fans, skirt material, drive hardware and foam for the composite hull construction are available from Sevtec.

Total cost of construction, including engine and critical parts kits for Mariner is $10000 to $16000, and some 800 to1400 man hours.
