South Eastern Working Newfoundlands Home Page

South Eastern Working Newfoundlands is a group of Newfoundland-loving families mainly from Essex and Kent, England.

The group was formed in October 1990 to promote and develop the working instincts of the breed and responsible dog ownership. We are also a social group putting much emphasise on the enjoyment of what we do both for the dogs and ourselves. We are very conscious of the safety aspect when working the dogs in the water and we have rules to adhere to e.g. the wearing of wet-suits and lifejackets at all times in the water.

In the course of our working year we cover many events doing water demonstrations and carting displays helping to raise funds for various charities.

To date, our normal training area has been a lake near Chelmsford, Essex. This year, we have been extremely fortunate in being allowed to train in the sea at the Coastguard Station at Shoeburyness, Essex.

This is a picture of some of our members at our barbecue on New Years day 1996. We must be mad to endure the cold, but a good time was had by all.

We are always willing to help out in events which help to raise funds for charities.
