The Mavs organization consists of 4 teams. 4A or Mickey Mantle is a 16 and under age group, 5A or Connie Mack is a 18 and under age group, and 2 Stan Musial teams of 18 and older players.
The Dallas Mavericks team was formed in 1984 by Denny Dixon, a professional scout with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays and Head Coach at Brookhaven College. The Dallas Mavericks (also known as Dallas Image) have been to 14 5A state tourneys, 2 4A state tourneys, 9 5A regional tourneys, 3 5A world series tourneys (1 National Title), 1 4A world series and 1 3A state tourney. The Mavs have also played abroad, playing in Billings Montana, Prescott AZ, Farmington NM, New Orleans LA, Oaklahoma City, Miles City Montana, and Jacksonville Fl, winning over 50 tourney titles since '84.
The Mavericks coaching staff is headed up by Denny Dixon, who doubles as and assistant coach with the Adair Braves.
The 4A coaching staff is lead by Corey Thornton, an assistant coach at Brookhaven College, and assisted by Julius Liescheski. The 4A team plays in the Dallas BBI select league and was formed in 1994. The 4A Mavs are sponsored by David Bishop D.D.S.
The 5A coaching staff is lead by Nathan Frieling, a four year player at Southwestern Univ and former Mav. He is assisted by Matt Frieling and Corey Thornton. The 5A club plays in the Dallas BBI select league and was formed in 1984.
The Sports, an 18 and over team, plays in the Dallas Amateur Baseball Association and is sponsored by Mesquite Sports Center. The head coach is Ricky Brockway, a two year college player who played 4 years in the Phillies organization. The Sports were formed in 1999.
The Mavericks Stan Musial team, plays in the Southwest Collegiate League. A wooden bat league consisting of 12 teams. The SM Mavs are sponsored by the McKinney Sports Center, and Coached by Larry Sather. Coach Sather played for 4 years in the Yankees organization. The SM Mavs were formed in 1998.
The Mavs also help to place their players in college via scholarships. '98 was a typical year with a 100% placement ratio.
The Mavs are a non-profit organization and donations are tax deductable. We need to raise $30,000 this season to return to Montana. Maverick sponsers receive ad space on this home page as well as in their team program. Inquiries contact via e-mail.
