An interesting meet occured daily in Strong City. The Eastbound Doodlebug and Mixed trains from Concordia arrived in Strong City just in time to allow the Eastbound Fast Mail Express to pass Strong City. The fast mail was hot on the locals tail from Neva to Strong City, a distance of four and one tenth miles. The local was seven minutes ahead of the Fast Mail at Neva and only six at Strong City. It was also interesting that the usual Doodlebug was replaced with a mixed train on Sundays. It had to be somewhat unnerveing to have the Fast Mail Express on your tail! Especially when you were in the Doodlebug.
Other photos of the depot can be found in Joe McMillian's Wheat Lines and Super Freights on page 47.

The Strong City depot still stands as a Maintenance of Way building in Strong City. If the railroad ever gives up on this as a Maintenance of Way house I believe the city will do a good job of restoring this depot. The city has already saved a Santa Fe caboose in a park beside the depot.

This is a bridge that the Santa Fe used for advertising. It is just west of Strong City.
