"Stuart" - Champion Wildrose Highland Tribute

Show Career

Stu had an exceptional show career. What a thrill for a family of new sheltie enthusiasts! It began at his very first show at the tender age of 6 months and 8 days of age. He took Winners Dog (4 point major), Best Opposite Sex over specials and Best Puppy at the Centennial Shetland Sheepdog Club Of Greater Denver Specialty show!

At the age of 18 months he was Winners dog at the St. Louis Specialty for a 5 point major. Two weeks later he was awarded another 5 point major at the Kentuckiana specialty and topped off his exciting winning streak 2 weeks after that with a 4 point major (to finish) at the Shetland Sheepdog Club of Georgia Specialty show. Only a few individuals in breed history have attained the honor of finishing with all specialty majors so we are proud and thrilled to be able to add these to his list of accomplishments.

In 1993, the year after he became a champion, Stuart was one of fourteen champions to win the prestigious Award Of Merit at the American Shetland Sheepdog National Specialty Show in Virginia Beach (entry of 1100 shelties). One week following the national, he returned to Georgia and took a Specialty Best In Show under the Gloria Cronin, the judge who had done bitches at the national. The icing on the cake was that Stuart was owner/daughter handled for all of the above wins! My 14 year old daughter, Jamie, handled him for all but the first major (Mom did that one)!

We now show Stuart only occasionally and just for fun! Our f amily will always treasure the memories of his glittering career and many happy times we shared on the road with this very special dog.
