Activities around
Shining Star

As MotherŐs Day approached, the children were busy cutting and pasting flowers for their cards. The chocolate dipped strawberries were a fun project and enjoyed by all.

Something Old
Something New

One day recently, this group of children was interested in a variety of items reintroduced after being in storage. There are also many things readily available that they havenŐt used in a while. In the picture below, some of the children are rediscovering some of our block box puzzles. These are especially challenging because each cube has one of six possible pictures. The boxes contain between 9 and 12 cubes.

At any one time, only a small portion of the toys and materials are out. As the childrenŐs skills advance, we want to provide a variety of appropriate developmental activities. There are a number of reasons why toys and equipment are brought out or put away.

Some materials are used for a while and then the childrenŐs interest wanes. The recycling of toys and games helps to keep things fresh for the children. There are other times when we are working with a theme and want certain kinds of items available. Also, if a child requests something in storage and itŐs readily available, we often will bring it out. Pic 19
