Born Shirley King many years ago in Marshfield, Missouri, Shirley later attended Mark Twain and Horace Mann Elementary Schools in Springfield, before her family relocated to the farming community of Boaz, Missouri. She graduated from Clever High School in the 1970's.
In 1996 along with a small group of mystery enthusiasts in the Springfield, Missouri area, Shirley co-founded Sleuths' Ink, a writers group which specializes in the mystery genre.
She is also a member of Ozarks Romance Writers, Romance Writers of America , Sisters in Crime, The Missouri Writers' Guild and The Short Mystery Fiction Society.
