Bill's NASCAR and SCCA Photo page!

I live in Wilmington, NC, a great small city, only a few miles from the beach. We have a great nightlife, and a wonderful downtown. Wilmington is also home to a movie studio, and Wilmington ranks third in the number of movies shot, behind New York, and Los Angeles....or so I've heard....

I'm also a former Winston Cup photographer. I shot Winston Cup racing for somewhere around ten years before giving it up in 1995. I went back for a few races in 1997, but decided that i enjoyed having a life....so with the exception of the SCCA races I shoot for fun, I'm out of the business. I also enjoy SCCA racing, and now have quite a few SCCA images on this page also.

I've put a Richard Petty shot at the head of my page...I like the colors, they're kind of eye grabbing.

This is probably my best selling photograph. I shot this in victory lane at Rockingham, in October of 1994. For those of you who don't know who it is, his name is Dale Earnhardt.

I burnt a lot of film when I started out, figuring how to get a good in car shot without using a flash....I figured, this guy is heading out to race, the last thing he wants is to get his retinas burnt out by a flashgun....(why make enemies?)...not to mention, it probably makes it hard to drive. And of course, there's SCCA. SCCA (sports car club of america) is a wonderful outfit....it's racing like it used to be. You can take the family to the track with you, the kids can play, you can camp, prowl the pits, it's really a great organization. Consequently, it's members tend to be great people! I'm one, and if you like racing for the sake of racing, you really ought to look into it. Check out their website.. scca....You can even request an information packet online.

And last, but most certainly not least, there is the gang at my house. My wife Laura is a Pediatric Occupational Therapist, while my daughter Heather is just a pretty good kid. And this photograph is a rarity. I NEVER wear a suit!
