Areas of interest (before recent bout of Major depression)
Publishing collages on the web. I also work with sound samples to create collages of commercials, talk shows, all styles of music, and movie clips. I periodically search for new forms of writing, anything experimental, to read and hopefully stimulate successful writing experiments of my own. (A few of my pieces are posted in the newsgroup AWC at http://www.rdsd.com/~rlotze/AspiringWritersClub/)
I listen to music constantly, have no TV. I prefer the larger layout and sound of vinyl to CDs but ain't exclusive. Howlin' Wolf and Sonny Williamson, for example, sound best off a popping, dusty album; the digital twanginess of the compact disc lessens the emotional pull of the songs.
When I have vacation time or the inclination, I travel the old highways. Delapidated gas stations, crumbling bridges, ghost highways and industrial spurs as well as the scenic remains of the country help me lose the built up tension of existence.
