We Have Victory!!!!!
The pundits are all eating their nasty, vile words and learning that America will not stand for their attempted Coup d'etat! We have won a major victory against the Christian Coalition and their CC led Republican puppets. Now, my prediction for the future (near); the Democrats have heard us, and will continue to move towards reform, building their trust with the American People, and dealing with the issues that We The People want; the Republicans will have their hierarchy implode upon itself with internal bickering and blaming. A fitting triumph and tribute to America!!!! And one more thing, they keep avoiding two points....one said "I thought this was going to be a referendum on Clinton." IT WAS!! It was a message to leave him alone! Exactly what this petition is about! Also, they keep saying that we won only from the last minute African American and Hispanic turnout. They refuse to admit how many of their own party, moderate Republicans, voted straight Democratic to keep President Clinton in office and revolt against the CC led leadership of their own party. Victory is sweet, but we are only just beginning. We would have gotten majority back had we organized earlier. But we will be ready for 2000!!!!

Folks, I really want to stress something here. I don't want Democrats, Independents and other voters to start screaming retaliation by wanting the "scorched earth" philosophy. That is not what's going to take down the CC led Republicans. The only way to succeed, is to stick to the issues during election time. They want us to become embroiled in arguing endlessly about this, because if we do that, we lose that much more time in discussing issues, in which their records stink. This is why they're releasing the videotape, because they're scared and are scraping the bottom of the barrel. They want the President to resign before the elections, but it won't happen. They want you to forget that they can't do anything about this case until next year - if they do anything. They want you to think they've got a case, but they don't. They want you to get so disgusted by the transcripts and tape, and then turn against the President. What they don't realize is that our disgust lies at their doorstep. Our outrage lies in their hypocrisy and lies. And our revolt will be used with our greatest weapon, the vote in November. They have accused the President of abuse of power - when he was being blackmailed. On the other hand, the CC led Republicans have demonstrated a group drunk with power and the outlandish TRUE abuse of that power by rewriting the Constitution at will and ignoring the basic fundamental civil rights of our leader. We won't even mention the non-existence of compassion, and humanity. And let's not forget the concept of doing what's right. What's right for America, not what's right for a small group of people. Please encourage your candidates to stick to the issues, and be the better person. The bigger person. Let's make this the biggest demonstration of what American Democracy is really all about!!!!!

Since many of us will be putting up Christmas lights for the season, how about if we put them to a different use beginning Jan 1. It may not be suitable for city dwellers, but perhaps we can brainstorm together.
-Here's my idea. Use a white string of lights to form the initials WJC William Jefferson Clinton or BC for Bill Clinton on our rooftops, in the yard, where you have the space. The more the idea spreads the more impact it could have. City Dwellers could maybe do it in their windows!!!!! People would see it from the street, airplanes, satellites would pick it up, the astronauts could see it, and best of all as word spread the media couldn't ignore it!!!! Maybe we should think of a different color ....Red for our Rage!!!!!! Or Red White and Blue !!!!!

What I am VERY upset about is how many times now that Barr and Lott's connection with the CCC has been reported by reputable agencies online, and how it's STILL being ignored by the main media outlets. Please join me in a campaign of calls, letters and faxes to all major media outets to demand that the spotlight be put squarely on these bigots. The leader of the CCC has reported to one of my readers that there are other members of Congress which belong to the CCC.
12/28/98 Hello again! I'm back from my holiday vacation. I watched the farce called the Impeachment votes; better known as "The GOP Steamroller Express." I have never felt so vindicated before in my life. Indeed for all of us, of course especially for Hillary Clinton. After being laughed at, sneered at, cursed at and harassed for standing up for what's right, we are all finally vindicated. And in the end, their own actions are what did it. The last nail in the GOP coffin was the blockage of the Censure vote. That proved beyond a reasonable doubt that this was a witchhunt of the worst kind, and an affront to us and our Constitution. And I had a great laugh at Livingston, who is definitely not Representative of my views as a Louisianian, at his failed attempt to "lead" (ie coerce) President Clinton into resignation. I am soooooo glad he resigned as speaker.
My personal feeling is that if you put together the supposed charges against President Clinton, it still pales in comparison to the extreme abuse of power and other things that the Right Wingnuts are guilty of in their zealous obsession with taking the President down.
What I get a kick out of are the letters that I see in editorials that say "the polls are wrong, they don't represent me." When will these people get the point that they do indeed represent the truth; that they are represented in the solid 37% that favor Impeachment, the people that hate President Clinton. It's that old "I feel strongly about this, so everyone just has to feel the same way I do. So, I shall continue to shove my views down everyone's collective throats till the whole country submits." Wrong. Everyone has a right to stand up for what they believe in, and we are in the 73% majority that recognize a setup when we see one, and although we don't condone the President's behavior, we want to have him continue in his job.
But that's OK. I didn't listen to the talk radio at all after that because I just realized that these people that are in the minority are always going to choose to live a life wallowing in miserable, hateful, spiteful tones and deeds. And that's their right. If they want to live that way, they have every right to. If they want to hate the President, that's their right too. That's what America is all about. So, they will continue to call the radio shows, and praise Limburger for his stupidity. They will continue to call for Clinton's ouster for one reason or another. I finally realized that talk radio was the genesis for the newsgroups and chat rooms of the Internet; a place for them to congregate. Let them argue amongst themselves. Let them have their say and do what they feel that they have to do.
What we must do now, however, is to make sure that when it comes time for an election, someone that represents the Majority of Americans runs for offices everywhere, and that we get out the vote to elect them. This is where we failed before. We failed to stand up when election time started, and were left with extremist leaders of the GOP unopposed. We failed to expose new candidates that had the same bigoted and hateful agenda for what they were. We got complacent because the economy is good, and the Majority of Americans have been living a peaceful, enjoyable life. We were sucker punched, but we were not knocked out, or even knocked down. Just bruised up a bit and we learned a valuable lesson - you just can't leave Democracy for someone else to take care of. If you want to retain your civil rights and continue to live a prosperous and happy life, you have to do your part. Not just going to the polls, but working ahead of time to make sure our candidates are there to vote for. To make sure others who would be apathetic and skip an election just because it's a local race and not involve Washington, DC get out and vote. Because it's from the local races and offices that these Senators and Representatives are elected from. And that's our goal now. The year 2000.
Yes, write to your Senators regarding the Impeachment charges just as you did Congress. Make your preference known, whether it's to drop the matter or to vote for Censure, make your voice heard via phone, email, fax and snail mail. Write editorials for your local papers and national publications. Demand fair reporting if they slant the news, and praise them if they've been fair. And most of all, continue to write to President Clinton, letting him know clearly that he should NOT resign.
But our next goal must be met on a local basis. You must get involved in your local elections. No matter what party you are affiliated with. If you are Republican - which many of my correspondents are - you must push for the Moderate candidates. But, be careful and do your homework because many extremists pose as moderates in order to be elected but push the Extremist agendas once in office. Investigate their backgrounds, know where they come from to know what and who guides where they are going.

12/7/98 Well well well. Hyde just can't get enough of obstructing justice, can he? He held a circus like - if not downright dumb looking - press conference, putting empty boxes all over the desks, saying all of the "evidence" fits in "all those boxes." It was a failed effort to defend his indefensible actions. This is why I cheered Waters, Conyers and the rest who ran up to the mike to take advantage of the chance and said "we know Rep Hyde doesn't have anything to support charges of Perjury and obstruction of Justice. They are looking for evidence to support their charges. However, they have majority and we're at their mercy." This of course is a paraphrase. I am so glad that they are finally standing up for the truth!! They should have done that long ago.

Folks, today we witnessed the true awfulness of the Republican Extremists of the Judiciary committee. Barr was exposed to be linked to the White Supremacists, and I only heard one report on the radio. What should have been plastered all over the news was squashed. Mind you, I'm not surprised. Just further irritated. And instead of Barr explaining himself - on the radio he simply said "they may have far out views but of course I don't believe in it - they instead had Barr saying "we don't have to specify perjury statements, they know what we mean." I must thank him and Hyde, and the rest for proving all of our points so neatly. (Can you believe Hyde actually had the audacity to create souvenir gavels - and advertise the fact??)

12/7/98 Now, you're going to be hearing a lot of hogwash about how close the vote will be for Impeachment. I've gotten emails saying "they will Impeach him!!" It won't even get to the Senate. What you have to remember is when their backs are against the wall and they're in the corner, they act like frightened animals and throw out propaganda to throw people off. Of course they're going to claim that they will be successful, it's a way to try to saw the swing voters into thinking "well, if everybody's going to vote for it, so should I." It's a bully tactic and it won't work, they've done it too many times. And everyone is now well aware of how active Bob Barr is on the Freeper website. And everyone also knows that he wanted Impeachment well in advance of any so called evidence. Now, they're dissolving the idea of censure, because that's the only option left. So now they're going to make it a complete partisan vote, either Impeach the President or let him walk away clean. This will be the final nail in the coffin. Their warped perception is "if we take away the possibility of censure, then the swing voters will feel obligated to vote for some form of punishment. Since the only option is Impeachment, they'll vote for it."
First of all, Impeachment is not provided in the Constitution as a form of punishment as they're trying to use it. It's provided for only in case of bribery, treason or some other High Crime and/or misdemeanor. Not as a political punishment. This is why the framers - in their infinite wisdom - made the rule of having to have 2/3'ds majority. So that it's not used as a political coup. Isn't it amazing how far sighted they were??
Secondly, that being true - they will force the swing voters into voting AGAINST Impeachment for those very reasons. BUT.......we can't sit by and "hope" that this happens. 11/6/98 Yes folks, as you probably heard by now, the Grinch is gone! Well, as of January anyway. Our job is not over, not by a long shot! We've won the battle, but we still need to win the war, which is to get rid of Hyde. If you didn't know, he and his CC led Republican cronies in the Judiciary committee held a secret meeting, leaving out all Democratic members and that's where they came up with the 81 interrogatory "questionaire" which - upon reading - is clearly another entrapment process sent to President Clinton. He is rushing to do this, (Hyde) and I guess we now know why. I do hope that the President will tell Hyde where to put his interrogatories. It's not even legal!! But, of course, the media won't tell you that. Go here to Rep. Livingston's website, the possible new Speaker of the House: http://www.house.gov/livingston/ I think Livingston is a moderate Republican, and is someone we can work with. He has no ties to the CC so that's a definate plus.

Gingrich leaving is wonderful, but we have to reserve judgement until we know who will be the next Speaker (probably will be voted on in 2 weeks) and then we'll know how to respond. But, until then, we must keep up the email, calls, faxes and letters to keep up the pressure and get rid of Hyde. The Speaker appoints the committee heads, so hopefully they will see how out of control Hyde is (honorable my eye) and give him the boot too. I also hear that in the Senate they will be looking to boot Lott too from leadership. It wouldn't be a day too soon!

As I said, I am removing any time limit from the Protest Petition. We need many more names to be taken seriously. The other part of my decision is to finally outline what I think should be done, and what we should push for. I have considered all options, and all arguments. While I don't condone what the President did in having an extra marital affair, I am not G-D, do not pretend to be Him or speak for Him. Therefore I am not fit to judge his personal life. I also hear the arguments, "well, shouldn't he have to pay for what he's done? Shouldn't he be treated the same as everyone else?" (that's their failed argument) Well folks, I agree - to a point. In the research that I've done, I have come to the unmistakable conclusion that not only was there a conspiracy to entrap the President, but the ways that Starr pursued the "evidence" was all or mostly illegal. Therefore, since the evidence is tainted, the case should be thrown out. In any court of law across this great land of ours, you know as well as I do that if the investigation is screwed up, the case is thrown out. And since they insist that the President be treated the same as everyone else, his case should be thrown out too. I also firmly believe that those powers behind the vendetta and conspiracy should be charged with and sentenced for High Treason for their Coup d'etat attempt in overthrowing our Government and President. This includes The Grinch, Lott, Faircloth, Scaife, Starr, Jones, Whitehead, Hyde and any others that I am not mentioning and that may be found out later. This could also include Falwell and Robertson.
And we should also work with Sue's Truth in America organization in pursuing restoring the "fairness doctrine" in the media. I agree with (I believe it was Ms. Prettyman who said) the statement that all advertising should be banned from the news broadcasts. But first things first, we must pursue having this bogus entrapment thrown out of Congress before any more lives are ruined. Hyde is intent on pursuing it ASAP and so we cannot let up any steam in opposing it.
Should the President be punished? Well, yes and no. That's the toughest question of all, because lying in and of itself is wrong, especially under oath. But I do believe that he is due special circumstances because a) he should have never been asked the questions in the first place (ambush style) and b) had the evidence not been obtained illegally, we would not even know about what he had done. And because this was used solely to try to shame him out of office, and used in the Coup attempt, I say he has suffered enough. Can any of you say with any amount of certainty that you could have your sex life thrown into public view, with graphic detail, have lies made up mixed in with a little bit of truth, embarrassing not only you, but your wife and daughter - those you lied to protect in the first place - having to face the American People and not say that you would not feel punished a thousand times over? I firmly believe that with the capacity that President William Jefferson Clinton feels for each American, and as much as he loves this great country of ours, his embarrassment and shame is magnified many thousands of times. To own up to his mistakes, face the American People, and to put aside his personal shame to pursue this country's business and still bring us closer to peace in the Middle East, force the repugs into a budget deal and stand up for Americans everywhere, and in all of this showing the amount of dignity that he has.......he has earned our trust. He has earned a reprieve and he certainly deserves another chance without someone biting him in the proverbal butt every time he turns around. He deserves for us to fight for him this time. It is time to stand up and tell people it's ok to stand up for the President. It's time to end the bigotry and hatred being spewed across the airwaves and in our newspapers. It's time to tell the Pundits du jour where to shove their opinions.
They have declared war on our President and our Constitution. We won a major victory is taking down major CC led repugs, but our job is far from over. We must follow it through to the finish. This is what I'll be concentrating on. I will be gathering as much evidence as I can muster, but we need the names. I have almost 800 names now. That's not nearly enough to get the attention of the Judiciary committee. Help me to get more.

WASHINGTON (October 30) -- The Clinton White House is trying to make House Speaker Newt Gingrich a campaign issue after a report that the speaker orchestrated a new TV ad campaign touching on the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal.
The White House is attacking Gingrich, a familiar foe, as it tries to turn attention away from the president in the final days of Campaign '98. The midterm elections are Tuesday, with hotly contested races from New York to California.
"These attacks personally devised by Speaker Newt Gingrich are wrong," Vice President Al Gore said Friday. "The choice this November third, as a result, is now clearer and starker than it has ever been. On one hand, we have the Gingrich plan: More negative ads, more personal attacks, more partisan investigations, more of the politics of personal destruction."

10/31/98 I just watched a portion of the "counter rally" and I loved every minute of it. Why? Because they are spewing out so much stupidity, that it's making us look even better. The other reason? 10/30/98 My response to those "scandel" ads, especially to the one that has the two young mothers supposedly having trouble "What did you tell your kids?" Well, I told my son - when he asked "Why did the President lie Mommy?" - that the President lied because he was very embarassed and he was asked questions that shouldn't have been asked by people who only wanted to hurt him. He was content with that. He didn't ask any more questions. A child can understand the meaning of forgiveness. Any parent that forces more information on their children are only interested in making sure that they are successful in poisoning their children against the President. If your children are hearing about inappropriate language and acts, it's because you're telling them about it, and you're letting them watch the news anchors who make the choice to mention these things for ratings.

Remember, November 3rd is not a referendum on President Clinton. We know that we want him to continue his Presidency. This election is a referendum on Congress.
A vote for Democrats = an end of the witchhunt, and getting back to the business of this country. (ie Social Security, the Patient's Bill of Rights which the CC led Republicans killed, medicare, etc)

10/28/98 From Ilenne : Just a thought........The sad murder of Dr. Slepian occured not only because of the fact that he provided legal abortions but also because he was Jewish. Please note that it occured on Shabbat after his, and his family's, return from Temple. This make this heinous deed a hate crime, as well, which carries a federal death penalty (I believe) instead of just life which is what the current punishment will be. Odd, how the media and authorities seem to be avoiding this part of the issue.

Although CNN lowballed the numbers attending - it was more like 500 over the whole time (I got 140 more names) - they did give us (I thought) positive coverage. And with all that I know who wanted to be there, the numbers could've been much bigger had the media not ignored us and refused to advertise the event. The most important thing - along with Darrell's assessment that every one of us represented a thousand or more who couldn't attend - is that little by little we're getting the message across. We're letting the public know that we'll no longer let it be "cool" to carry on this vendetta, nor to continue to humiliate and harass the President for the sake of money.
And thank you to all who wrote with such wonderful thoughts in regards to my speech. I don't know where it came from, (yes, that was me on CNN) but it's something that I just had to get out. Months (years) of frustration.......I just hope that I reached more people and that I could make at least a small difference.
Important notice!!!!!! If you haven't registered to vote yet.....you can still vote in some states. I just found this out myself.....Under the Federal Voting Rights Act, go to your local borough hall or town hall and see the town/borough clerk. ASK FOR A PROVISIONAL BALLOT.
Bring proof of your address and whether you are new to the area. ASK FOR A PROVISIONAL BALLOT FORM. FILL OUT THE FORM, ask the Clerk where you should file it, AND YOU WILL BE REGISTERED TO VOTE FOR YOUR CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATES (although you will be too late to vote for your local candidates). Again, this is only in some states, so be sure to check with your town clerk to make sure.
Important News.....make sure when you talk to others about voting, especially the elderly, make sure that they know that they can cross party lines. There are some out there that still think that they have to vote for the candidate for the party which they registered.

Istook noted that Rep. John Linder, head of the National Republican Congressional Committee, has said that not a single GOP Congressional incumbent is trailing in the polls. DeLay replied that the conventional wisdom is not quite correct, inasmuch as the Senate is playing a much larger role in the thinking of the House GOP leadership than most people realize. Notice also, at the end of the second link, Starr's financial earnings: Separately, the Post reported that Starr earned $1.2 million last year from his private legal practice and his family's assets total at least $4.5 million. Quoting from Starr's financial disclosure statement, the paper said the assets -- mostly Treasury bills, stocks and mutual funds -- generated income of $131,400.

Judge Silberman and his wife Rosalie are close friends of Barbara and Ted Olson's according to reporter Joe Conason. Todd Gaziano regularly appears on various network talk shows attacking Clinton. Gaziano is Senior Fellow at the Scaife-funded-and-co-founded Heritage Foundation. Frequent talk show guest Mark Levin belongs to the Landmark Legal Foundation. That organization received $330,000 from Scaife's Carthage Foundation in 1997 and $150,000 from the Scaife Family Foundation in 1997."
I know I've printed some of this information before, but again, it ties in neatly all of the players, especially Coulter and the other so called "commentators and experts" spewing out their hatred against the President daily on talk shows.

In his own inimitable style, James lays out the entire Ken Starr story complete with names of the right-wing funders and players. It gives much insightful information and provides clarity on the motivations of the "get Bill" crowd. Also, the last chapter has some great questions that the Judiciary Committee should read. They are questions for Kenneth Starr.
If you're not angry at what the right-wingers have done to the President and this country before you read this book, you will be after you have finished it! My blood pressure shot up, but I am even more motivated now to stop these pathetic, un-American, hypocrites from taking over my country and the precious freedoms providing in the Constitution. 10/12/98 Why are the Republicans worried about President Clinton's fundraising schedule? Is he the only President to do fundraisers weeks before the election? He's not the one putting partisanship before Social Security, patient's rights, and the myriad of other REAL issues facing us. Maybe if Congress would stop killing every bill put before them just to keep us from making any progress......they wouldn't have to worry about fundraisers. Maybe they should worry about needlessly shutting down the government because they simply refuse to do their jobs, would rather focus on hurting the country and then try to point the blame at others. They have perfected that mode of behaviour.
10/11/98 I caught the end of Firing Line today, and on it was Ann Coulter, author of the book just released denegrating President Clinton "High Crimes and Misdemeanors." I haven't read the book, nor would I pay her for the hatchet job that she apparently has done. Another person writing a book, making money off of the Right Wing Conspiracy, and being their pawn. I'd like to know what her ties to Scaife, Starr and Falwell are. When asked on Firing Line "What is the explanation for the polls" and her answer was "I don't believe the polls. I don't think they're real. The only poll I'll believe is the election." So, it's our job to finally prove to her and her employers that they can no longer ignore the majority. Coulter is legal affairs correspondent for the influential conservative weekly "Human Events."
Tried to find something on "Human Event's" weekly but the only thing I can find is an article they published backing Woody Jenkins, which was a Christian Coalition candidate against Landrieu here in La in '96. It was a nasty race, had the retired Archbishop Hannon of New Orleans hold a press conference saying "To vote for Mary Landrieu is a sin" because she is pro-choice. The Catholic church quickly came out and distanced themselves from Hannon, because that one statement could have (and should've) nullified their tax exempt status. (The editorial cartoon the next day had an elderly woman in a confessional saying "Forgive me father, for I have voted.") Jenkins lost the race, then ran to the Senate with bogus "proof" of voter fraud where they actually had hearings, spent thousands of tax payer money to come down to New Orleans and investigate. Of course, there was no proof. But because there was the possibility to have one more Christian Coalition seat in the Senate, they tried their damnedest. So, this is Coulter's background.

10/10/98 Ok, now that the CC led Republicans have insisted on having this witchhunt called an "impeachment inquiry," the Democrats handed over a list of witnesses that they want to cross examine. So what does the ever hypocritical Hyde say? "I don't want a long dragged out thing, I want to cut to the chase! I'm bewildered by the Democratic response." So, they'd rather that the Democrats just sit back and let the CC led Judiciary committee speed their way to handing an "impeachment" charge over to Congress without questioning the key players?? I don't think so. I guess they also want to strip President Clinton of the right to face his accusers. Will they leave him with any rights at all when this is over? Mr. Carter, the charges of perjury seem to stem from the Paula Jones deposition, but from what I can understand from this, Mr. Clinton didn't answer certain questions that he wasn't asked. If he's reading the definition of the sexual relationship and they're not asking him specific questions and he's not volunteering information, how is that perjury?
CARTER: That's very much on target.
KING: That's the core of the question.
CARTER: Absolutely. And I think if you read the president's answers, not only did he say, "I'm not sure," but there were a lot of "I can't recall"'s. And I'm not sure that there is perjury. I am sure other people may come away with a different point of view, but I believe if you read his full answers on those issues, I think you can come away with a reasonable conclusion that he did not perjure himself. And I would have the same reservations you have about anybody finding such a conclusion with regard to his testimony in the Paula Jones case.
One big surprise here, Dee Dee Myers actually took on Bay Buchanan <gag> president of the conservative group "American Cause" [a front for another bigoted, partisan, anti-Clinton, anti-anybody-not-Christian-Coalition-related group out to take down the President at all costs, even at the cost of this nation's Constitution.] Nice surprise, but she must feel like a pancake from flopping back and forth so often.
Then, at the bottom are the announcements, and "Then, on Monday, an extensive look at how the media has handled the Clinton investigation, and how the impeachment proceedings will be covered;" Geez, they're going to do it again. Interview the interviewers. Is this going to be another hour of nothing else going on in the world? I can see the producers now: "We've got to keep this thing going at all costs........" (even at the expense of the REAL news going on around the country."

10/9/98 Senator Carl Levin on C-Span2 this morning. Levin was talking about removing Starr. (He and representatives Alcee Hastings and Patrick Kennedy are trying to have Starr impeached.) Levin said he's written to Reno but she hasn't replied. He speculated that Reno hasn't responded because she wouldn't want it to appear she was influenced by Levin and others if she does eventually fire Starr. Senator Levin also said Reno can't fire Starr because it would be reminiscent of the "Saturday Night Massacre" where Nixon fired Archibald Cox, the prosecutor assigned to investigate Nixon.
This morning Levin said Starr has "made a mockery of the IC process." Levin has been involved in reauthorizing the IC law. He said the law needs radical changes in order to limit the powers of the IC. Levin added that some congressmen hesitate to speak out about Starr because it might appear they're defending Clinton. I think it might help for us to call and write to Reno and to various senators and representatives asking them to support Senator Carl Levin and Representatives Alcee Hastings and Patrick Kennedy in their effort to investigate and remove Starr.

10/8/98 Today's vote was actually a small victory because it proved that this whole thing is a partisan effort. It means that the election is going to be less about the President and more about Congress itself, where it should be; about whether the country wants this to continue or not, and indeed.....the country has been screaming for this to end.
So, fear not, the truth always wins out.
What we need to do is focus on Gingrich. He's the one that's fallible. I read an article in US News and World Report today which said that he's done alot better at holding his tongue this time around......we must concentrate on exposing him for the fraud that he is. He's leading this in Congress (at the behest of his CC buddies), and if he falls, the whole thing falls. We must redouble our efforts and make sure we get record numbers out to the polls on November 3rd!

As you know, on August 17, President Clinton admitted that he lied to the American people, his family, and his colleagues about his relationship with Monica Lewinsky. The perpetuation of that lie for months is disgraceful. While I do not question the sincerity of the President's apology, I also have no question about the grave and long-lasting negative effects his actions are having on the nation and on our culture. Nor do I doubt that the proper course for our country and our culture is for the President to resign.
Americans expect their President to provide moral leadership. They expect someone who will call them to their highest and best, not accommodate them at their lowest and least. They count on the President to uphold the law, not undermine it. They want him to provide a model for their children to emulate, not serve as an embarrassing example that causes children to question the moral lessons instilled by their parents.
The President's actions are indicative of a values deficit in Washington. The culture of Washington exudes a spirit of arrogance that is not reflective of the people's values. From his first days in office, this President has presided over a cascade of investigations, scandals, and ethical controversies. He has borrowed against the people's trust over and over, and he has no moral capital left.
What is more, the President's values deficit illustrates that ours is a culture in crisis. Its symptoms include family breakdown, teen pregnancy, violence, and drug abuse. Now, more than ever, America needs a president who offers moral leadership. But the bully pulpit is empty. The President, who should be able to lead by example and who should be a model, is now missing in action. The President's self-inflicted wounds disable him from providing the leadership the culture so desperately needs.
From the outset, I have consistently stated that if the allegations against the President were true, then he has disgraced himself, he has disgraced the Presidency, and he should resign. Now that the President has admitted the allegations are true, the honorable act is to resign so that the nation can properly heal from the wounds he has inflicted and the culture can be put on the path to recovery.
Although I can call on the President to resign, I have no power to make him do so. The choice is in his hands. Therefore I appeal to him, to his sense of patriotism, and his sense of honor, to make the right decision. If he refuses to resign, the nation will be dragged through a prolonged ordeal to determine whether the President has forfeited the legal authority to govern.
However, statements by members of Congress of both political parties make it increasingly clear that this President already has lost his moral authority to govern. Under these circumstances, he owes it to a culture in need of moral leadership to resign.

10/5/98 The Judiciary Committee (as you well know by now) indeed voted to proceed with the Impeachment Inquiry (not the Impeachment Proceedings themselves, just the inquiry). What was so telling was not only the partisan vote....of course all Republicans on the committee voted for it, but all Democrats voted against it. But when the Republicans are interviewed about it.....they say "well, if the Democrats wouldn't have voted so partisan we'd have a bipartisan procedure." EXCUSE ME??????? Do they really think we're that dense?? Maybe if they'd stop the witchhunt, which is all partisan in nature, from beginning to end, we'd have a bipartisan agreement to censure the President and move on with the business at hand! You know, the real issues.
10/5/98 Geraldo did really great tonight. I watched the whole thing (rare that I have the time) and he talked about how Starr's being investigated for "allegedly" lying to Reno about the scope of his investigation......how on one day when Kendell et al argued to the court the need for attorney client privilege (sp?) in case of impeachment proceedings that Starr testified that "impeachment proceedings are too remote to consider" which Starr won, and then a few days later testified before ANOTHER court for expanding his inquiry based on possible impeachable offenses.
The best part by far though, was when Geraldo showed the office belonging to The Federalist Society (the Right Wing group of lawyers working behind the coup) and finally talked about how each member of this group has ties to Starr, and this shows a conflict of interest from the start!! How they are the ones (as mentioned in the New York Times article) that formed the "bridge" between Jones's lawyers and Kenneth Starr.
He also interviewed two Representatives who voted today on the Judiciary committee, and while Rep. George Gekas danced around the questions, Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee did a wonderful job clarifying his claims of "bipartisanship." In fact, she clarified that the Democrats didn't vote to release all of this information on the internet, that they had voted to give the Judiciary committee the ok only on the understanding that they would take their time to release only relevant issues. She said that the Democrats were outraged when the Republicans not only released most of it, but did so within minutes of the vote before the ink had dried.
What I found particularly fascinating is that Geraldo's main guest (sitting with him at his desk) was Jonathan Alter, Columnist from Newsweek who was taking a very Democratic side in the debate. Is Newsweek actually starting to give President Clinton a fair shake in its reporting? Wasn't it Newsweek that couldn't wait to publish reports and gave refuge to Tripp and Goldberg?? Hasn't their reporting, up until now, been solely partisan via the Republican party? They've been slamming the President for months. Now are they changing their tune?
Anyway, it was great to finally hear what we've been saying all along. I've also been saying that the Scaife factor has been missing; well, tomorrow night at 7pm (eastern I believe) on Geraldo's newest show on CNBC, he will be live from Arkansas reporting on Scaife's Grand Jury testimony........so finally all of the pieces will finally be put together in a neat little package....an ugly package that is. And who'd have thought that Geraldo would be the one to do it for us? I hoped he would, but didn't want to get my hopes up too high. At least someone's listening to us.

10/5/98 Ed Bradley did a wonderful job last night on 60 Minutes exposing Whitehead (Jones's lawyer) for the fraud that he is. The upshot was that this case is his only chance to move from the 2nd tier to the 1st tier of the Religious Right - with Falwell and Robertson et al - which would guarantee his "Rutherford Institution" millions of dollars in funding. He Whitehead claimed in the same sentence to be a Marxist and a conservative. He claims to be a product of the 60's. I think the rest of us in that age group would beg to differ.

For the past several weeks, concerned Republicans have attempted to reach their Congressional Representatives by phone and published e-mail addresses regarding the upcoming impeachment inquiry of President Clinton. Calls have not been returned. E-mails have been re routed back to the senders.
From the right coast to the left coast, Americans are disgusted with the fact that in the land of “free speech”, we are not being heard. Organizations are sprouting up all over this country with a similar accord: Let President Clinton continue to serve this country, reserving censure and/or any other rationally adjudicated actions until after his term.
Republicans for Clinton is just one of these many groups. We are a Pittsburgh-based grassroots association of voluntary individuals, the purpose of which is to provide documented research of the facts, within and beyond the scope of related gossip and allegations, ultimately providing support and voice for Republicans who, for any reason, are not being heard by their Republican Representatives, as specifically related to the continuing four-year investigation of President William Jefferson Clinton.
We believe the investigation being conducted by Judge Kenneth Starr is solely motivated by a partisan agenda, politically attempting to remove President Clinton from office, which is not only filled with hypocrisy, but slanderous allegations and WE ARE TIRED OF IT.

SCANDAL ROUNDUP: Hatch Says Not Enough Senate Votes
Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT), on impeachment: "In totality there is enough here for impeachment. My personal belief is it is going to be very difficult to have articles of impeachment voted up by 67 Senators in the United States Senate. You have to have a two thirds vote and so there has to be some realism about this. ... It's a little early to determine what can be done. In fact it is a little early to say that we won't get 67 votes. I'm just saying, if things stay the way as are. The way it is being presented in the media and the way the country seems to be supportive of the president in some ways, at least from an approval rating, it is going to be difficult to get the two-thirds vote in the Senate to convict" ("Watch It!" MSNBC, 10/1).
10/3/98 So, now the infamous tapes are released, only of course an edited version. But, we can now clearly see how independent Lewinsky is in this thing. Bribing Tripp with her condo in Australia (or stock thereof) and threatening Tripp should she decide to turn them in. (Ironic that she asks Tripp if her phone is tapped because she hears clicks. Tripp says "no it's just my gum.") Don't they just deserve each other?? Also, Lewinsky tells Tripp that she too believes that sex is inclusive, and what they had was not sex. (Trying not to be graphic). And, now they've released 5000 more pages. They won't give up until all of the report is out and they have nothing left to harass the President with. It's going to be a long month.
10/2/98 I caught a Republican Senator speaking on C-SPAN today. He was telling the public "there is no Constitutional Crisis, there's no reason to panic." Well, sure. There's no crisis for them because they have what they want. And they have a chance at 2/3 majority if they get the 5 seats that they are panting for. Maybe some of the senior members are realizing that pissing off America makes them get out and vote, and if they can calm down the masses then voter turnout will be low - ensuring a Christian Coalition led Republican victory. We can't let them worm their way out of the mess that they've caused. Another interesting statement that I caught today by a Representative regarding Social Security and the surplus. First off, wasn't it the Republicans that complained for years that Democrats only want to tax and spend? So, now that we have a surplus, who is running to spend the money on frivolous means instead of finally stabilizing Social Security? The other interesting thing was when the Republican Representative mentioned "for 40 years, the Democrats controlled the Congress....." and with that it dawned on me. For 40 years the Democrats controlled Congress, and the country - through all of the good and bad times - had remained a solid institution looked up to by the rest of the world. The Republicans sold out the party to the Christian Coalition, and have had control for 2 years. And look at the mess this country is in! The Democrats are surely not innocents, but their excesses can be controlled. In two years, the party of majority has virtually ruined this country. We must take our country and our constitution back! It's not being pro-Democratic. It's being anti-Coup!! It's rescuing our Country and our Constitution!! We must vote Democratic across the board, and then we can reign in those who run roughshod with the Constitution. And those that acted like rats jumping from a sinking ship before the ship even left the harbor......well, they will be dealt with in kind.....if they have Democratic opponents, then they should be ousted. If not, or if they're not up for reelection, then when it's time, they should go. And they certainly shouldn't be considered for nomination for President.

10/1/98 The CC led Republicans are only 5 seats away from 2/3 majority of Congress!! If they - heaven forbid - get those 5 seats, then the Christian Coalition will have won, and they can pass their puritan hypocritical agendas without fear of veto by the President. They will override any veto. But more important than that, they will continue full steam with harassing the President, and filling our airwaves with hatred and bigotry with intensity that we've never seen before and don't even want to imagine. They will impeach the President, then they will work on impeaching VP Gore, then we have Newt Gingrich as President. Is this what we want for our country? Do we want Gingrich as President? No!! and neither do the people that are angry at both parties, and those who are being and will be apathetic election day and stay home and not vote. We must - I repeat - we must get these people to the voting booth on November 3rd. We can much better deal with a Democratic majority whom we can thereafter hold accountable for their actions.
Whether voters like the Democratic party or not, we are fighting an attempted coup d'etat here, and if we don't all stand up together.....as one united voice.....then we can look forward to many years of Falwell and Robertson as our leaders, who will use their President Newt Gingrich <shudder> as their puppet to do their will. We will then have a Theocracy, and will have dumped the Democracy and the very Constitution that our forefathers fought and died for.
9/26/98 Remember, starting today is the wearing of Red White and blue Ribbons (or anything that has those colors) to stand up for the Constitution of The United States, and to support our President who has been through enough "Pros-ovision" = Attempted Prosecution of the President through Television. This will continue throughout the election.
9/25/98 Just heard that the Judiciary committee will now release the Tripp tapes. Geez, like those are real reliable. What about the missing tapes or the tapes that have been tampered with? Which ones will they play? There is no end, I knew they'd get nasty and it would get worse. But now they're even starting to outdo themselves in pettiness and partisanship, and they have the nerve to actually accuse the Democrats of partisanship!! If that's not the pot calling the kettle black! The Democrats aren't totally without blame but geez, at least they're talking about the issues, not blocking legislation for 2 years and then when it's time for the election, only pass the legislation that suits them.
9/24/98 Tedd Koppel......unbelievable! Nightline tonight, story about Starr and the President, called it "Bad Blood." They try to paint both the President and Starr as equally bad. They had - get this - a law professor defending Starr.......guess from where???? Yeppers, Pepperdine University!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You'd think they'd be a little less obvious than that! Then they had someone else defending Starr saying "the ICO is prohibited from talking to the press so he couldn't defend himself." EXCUSE ME?????????? Wasn't it Starr that had a standing press conference daily?? Wasn't it proven that Starr invited certain members of the press to daily briefings?? We have to get the vote out since the CC led Republicans will be counting on apathy and a low voter turnout. We have to get people to vote on November 3!! It goes without saying that, like you, I am greatly offended by the President's shameful behavior. There is also an overwhelming sadness for the dozens of people harmed and mistreated by the President's reckless disregard for human decency. I feel especially sad for Chelsea, and for the American people to whom he has lied for seven months. Most of all, like you, I resent this affront to the dignity of the Presidency itself.
I must and will reserve judgment on impeachment proceedings until Congress has had an opportunity to study Judge Starr's report, and then conduct our own investigation. Nonetheless, I do not hesitate in stating my conviction that this President has ceded the moral authority to lead our country.
For the good of our country, he should resign.
I suspect that you may have shared my own growing apprehension during the past several years that the American people have been steadily discarding the very principles set forth by our Founding Fathers that made this country great in the first place.
I have talked with Billy Graham about this on a number of occasions. He expressed the fear, which I certainly share, that if these moral and spiritual principles are not restored, America's future may be in grave danger.
