SAFETY COMMITTEE UPDATE
During the week of 7/7/97, the coalition of safety committees begins its series of meetings. The coalition is comprised of representatives appointed by the various guilds. IATSE President Tom Short has appointed the following three BA's to represent the entire membership.
Bruce Doering, local 600 BA
Norm Glasser, local 728 BA
Carmine Palazzo, BA of Painters local

President Short has denied "Brent's Rule" founders John Lindley, Haskell Wexler and Bruce McCleery or any other members to participate as representatives.  The DGA on the other hand has taken the opportunity to open their safety committee to its members. This movement was largely due to the work of "Pleasantville's" first AD Yudi Bennett.
If you are not a member of the DGA and feel compelled to have your voice heard, please do so immediately by contacting one of the three appointed by Tom Short.
