Halftail Antiques -  Scottish Paperweights


Harland fountain paperweight, 1970-75. Measures 2 5/8 inches diameter by 3 inches high. A blue and green fountain rises from a lilac coloured ground. A large bubble rests in the center of the fountain at at the end of each rivulet. Base of ground has "H" (Harland) cane. The base is polished flat. Excellent condition. Harland Glass was founded by Paul Ysart, and many of their paperweights were made by his hand.

Strathearn magnum seaweed with bubbles paperweight. Measures 3.8 inches diameter by 3.7 inches high. An abstract seaweed or "devil's fire" design is surrounded by twelve vertical rows of bubbles. Excellent condition.

Vasart medium millefiori panel weight, c1960s. It measures 2 1/2 inches in diameter. A central cluster of canes in yellow, green, blue and orange, surrounded by 7 radial twists and 2 rows of canes in dull green and light blue. Chocolate brown ground. Base has rough ground pontil mark. Original "Vasart Glass Handmade in Scotland" label on side. Condition excellent.

Caithness silver brooch with inset Paul Ysart 'stone', 
1972. The stone measures 1/2 inches diameter, and the brooch 1 1/8 inches diameter. A Paul Ysart highly complex cane or stone is set on a silver brooch of branch and leaves design. Hallmarked with "CG" (Caithness Glass). Edinburgh 1972 hallmark.
