Of course! I prefer to use different plastic plants with my frogs. My favorite is the Bamboo plant. It is very long and it reaches the top of my 55 gallon tank. This allows the frog to sit in it or on it to breathe air without having to tread water. return to top

Those black markings on the arms of the frog are nuptial pads and indicate your froggy is male.
What kind of fish can I safely house with my frog?
I have mostly heard of placing these frogs in with goldfish. Goldfish are not really aggressive and as long as they are not too small they will work well with your pet frog. return to top

This answer is one that needs to be made by the individual who is asking. Some feel that the frog living in a tank with filtration is like living with a jack-hammer going off 24 hours a day. I personally use filters because I feel these frogs are not living in the wild and would suffer more problems if they lived in poor water conditions. return to top

The above photo shows some difference in the frogs. Males usually have black markings on their arms and will be somewhat smaller. However, do not depend on size alone to determine. Males are usually the vocal ones as well. return to top

Now this answer is a personal choice as well. Some emails I have received from individuals were using gravel and the frogs while feeding ate some of it and were not able to pass it. This would cause death. I suggest using the smallest gravel you can find and that way if the frog gets some it will be small enough to pass on through. return to top
What are good tank conditions to go by when dealing with my frog?
I try to keep my tank cleaned on a regular basis. I keep the water at about 74 degrees year around. I follow all the charts and information located at the Glimmering Goldfish Site. I do not overfeed as this caused polluted water and has no benefits for the frogs. I regularly check my water for ammonia, pH, and nitrites. return to top
