GENDER
The males are much smaller than the females. They become sexually mature
at 10 months to 1 year. Sexing is made at this time by the fact that
the males will vocalize frequently during the evening hours, are skinnier,
and develop dark mating pads on the undersides of their hands and arms.
Females are larger, basically silent, and possess a cloacal extension
between their hind legs.(see photo) The adults can grow to be several inches
long, the females about twice the size of the males. Male frogs do not have
a vocal sac however they have been known to be heard as far away as 100 yards.
Here their noise
here. Females will respond to their own calls which according to
ABCNEWS.com
is a unique behavior to these frogs.
