Clam Chowder...the group, not the soup!

Clam Chowder (the group) is a small musical group in Maryland which plays an eclectic collection of British and American folk songs, sea shanties, unusual songs from all sources, original material, and anything else that has opportunities for close harmony.   The group has played in venues ranging from the Washington DC Folk Festival to the World Science Fiction Convention.

We’ve been in semi-active mode for a number of years now.  We do roughly two concerts a year.  Our one on-going gig is Darkover, a fantasy convention held in Timonium, Maryland over Thanksgiving weekend.

This past year at Darkover, we collected over $5,000 at Darkover and sent that directly to Children’s Hospital in Washington DC. Thank you, Chowderfans!

We still have hopes and plans to produce a new CD. We’ve done a very little taping, but it has been hard to get together.  When we really get rolling, we’ll let you know here.

Upcoming Gigs

June 2008:  We are tentatively slated to play at the Maryland Faerie Festival.

November 2008 We’ve been invited to Darkover.
