The Matilda Mk1 is a chunky humanoid mecha standing 4m tall, with the pilot occuppying the torso space and legs, The Arms being purely mechanical. The Matida is battery powered and can operate for 151 hours without recharging.
The Matilda is armed with a mini-missile launcher in its left arm and a 20mm Cannon in the right arm. The Cannon is optimised for a variety of ammo in 14 shot clips. The Standard load out is two standard clips, one armour piercing clip and one HE clip.
Other matilda systems include a smoke projector, mission computer ECM/ECCM suite environmental protection, spotlights and an ejection system.
The Black Moriah varient strips out the missile launcher, ECM suite and computer and uses the space gained for a flare launcher, Improved sensors and increased Ammo storage. The Police Black Moriah loads its cannon withOne clip of standard bullets, three clips of tangler foam, one clip of fire retardent and two clips of Tazer ammo.
Matildas like all military vehicles have a range of camoflage paterns, The SASH use British European patern (dark green and black in broad stripes), British Desert patern (SAS sand pink), and Arctic patern (white with flecks of green).
The Household Protection squad's mechs are red with black trim and polished silver hatch clips. The paint scheme is clearly based on the Guards regt. dress uniform.
The Department's sinister "All Blacks" are a flat matt black with their names elaborately painted on the torso right side in silver. The Departments non-existent mechs are undercoat grey in colour.
The Black Moriah - This is the UK - so of course
the Black Moriahs aren't black at all, they are white with a dayglo orange
stripes. Originally "Black Moriah" was a name which was used to describe
a police arrest vehicle.
The Matilda was created as a compromise between three completely divergent design requirements, The 29th Regt. (SAS-H) needed a fast one man recon vehicle, The Department needed a supply of cheap battlesuits to backup The New Knights and finally The Police needed a riot control vehicle. Political pressure (objections to armed police)resulted in the design being split into two varients late in the design procedure the Matilda Mk1 filling the requirements of Col. De'Ath's SAS-H and The Department, whilst the Black Moriah varient was retooled with non-lethal weapons for police use.
Both Varients are manufactured by the Royal Ordnance Company of Aldershot, and are based upon "Inventions" supplied by The Department's "TOP MEN" In reality the "Inventions" are advanced alien technology sold to the Department by Alan Stuart - aka VENOM aka the Guardian of the Hall of Worlds".
The 29th Special Air Services -(Heavy) Regiment - Col De'Ath has a force of thirty Matildas split into six squadrons of five mechs, each squadron specialising in a different environment. The SASH also has two Black Moriahs for recon/ECM support. SASH pilots regard both the Red Coats and the All Blacks as amatuers.
The Household Protection Squad aka "Red Coats"- After several unfortunate incidents, including the time Foxbat decided to give the Queen flowers and Chocolates in person,in her bedroom, and the Battle of the Dreadnoughts in parliament square, Parliament voted to heavily reinforce the security at certain nationally important sites. The result is a force of twenty Matilda's optimised for parade duty, (+10 presence) spread between Buckingham Palace, The Houses of Parliament, Windsor Castle and seven other sites. The HPS looks impressive but has yet to see combat, in some circles they are regarded as something of a joke. There is a growing animosity between the RedCoats and the All Blacks.
The Department - Mr Hunter has a force of nine matildas, three assigned as part of the New Knights nicknamed the "All Blacks" by the press with the individual names "Faith", "Hope" and "Charity". there are Three matildas as backup and a further three that do not officially exist for wetwork.
The Police - The Black Moriah varient is in service with all of the UK's police forces. The actual number of Black Moriah's is actually quite high, however because of the way the UK police are organised no police authority has access to more than two Black Moriahs for immediate action with a further 1d6 Black Moriahs 1d6x10 minutes away (on loan from a neighbouring force).
