CLAN MACLEAY

PIPES AND DRUMS

d

Clan Macleay Pipe Band is one of the oldest continuously existing pipe bands in the United States.
We believe that the band was formed under the sponsorship of the Clan Macleay
O.S.C. fraternal society in 1927, although some of the photographs we have from
Oregon Historical Society suggest that we may go back to 1920.
The band is self governing and self supporting.  It retains its long standing affiliation
with the Clan fraternal society.  With an excellent selection of traditional music and marching routines,
The Clan Macleay Pipes and Drums often called the "Clan Band's a popular and well recognized
pipe band in Oregon and the Pacific Northwest.  The Clan Band presents complete and varied
programs indoors and out.  They are a regular performer in the Rose Festival Grand Floral
Parade, as well as other parades and events.  The band also competes in Scottish Highland
Games throughout the Pacific Northwest, and as far away as Nova Scotia.  Their four
different military and civilian uniforms including the popular military full dress of
scarlet and blue tunics and feather bonnets add to the color and pageantry of their presentations.

The Scottish Pipe Band never fails to excite and fascinate young and old alike.  Regardless
of one's own heritage, the music and colorful appearance of a pipe band has universal appeal.
This fine musical tradition is carried on by Oregon's own Clan Macleay Pipes and Drums.

The Clan Band practices regularly at Arts and Communication Magnet Academy located at 11375 SW Center St. Beaverton, Oregon and conducts an ongoing teaching program for both beginning and advanced pipers and drummers.  If you are interested in learning to play the pipes or drums, or in joining the band , you are welcome to attend the practice any Tuesday that Beaverton Public Schools are in session from 7:00 PM to 9:15  If you are interested in lessons from "Clan" members contact Greg Dinse at:
